John Travolta was singing long before Grease. He started out on stage in musicals, including a road company production of Grease in the early '70s. Then came sitcom stardom on Welcome Back. Kotter in 1975. And while doing that series he had a hit record about a year later (Let Her In), becominga recording artist. About a year after that, he had his first hit movie with Saturday Night Fever in 1977, where he showed off his dancing skills. Then that led to Grease in 1978, and by that point he was such a tremendous movie star that he had to quit Welcome Back, Kotter.

I came so close to suggesting this last week. Olivia had an interesting career. A couple of her earlier songs are, “I Honestly Love You” and “Have You Never Been Mellow” then that sweet little girl came along with songs like “Physical”. Check her out! Jordan’s got to see the movie! And yes “Friday Night Lights”… my high school! We won state (undefeated) my Sr. Year and went to state my brother’s Sr year (he was a captain) and my dad filmed the games for the coaches for 32 years. And you need to watch Stayin Alive. John Travolta dances in that and the Bee Gees did lots of the music! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you both dance that much to a song! ❤️

Great reaction. I adore ONJ and Grease - John Travolta is a good singer and amazing dancer, but Olivia is fantastic - check out songs like Magic, Xanadu (from the eponymous film) and Physical. Sports movies: A League of Their Own involves the true story of a women's baseball league that was run during WW2, which basically became as popular as the World Series. Madonna, Geena Davis, Rosie O'Donnell and Tom Hanks are in it! I love that film.

Grease is my absolute all-time 100% FAVORITE movie!!! I saw this in 1978 in the theater for my birthday as a young teen. It absolutely changed my life! I am in my 50s now, and still when people ask me my favorite movie, it’s always Grease. I still have the album after all these years. Another must-see movie! So you need to start making a list: Ghost, Titanic, & Grease so far. Add Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, and Can’t Buy Me Love, which are all excellent examples of 80s classic movies. john travolta started his career in the early 70s on USA tv shows, then went on to play Danny Zuko in Grease at the age of about 29....he was also in Saturday Night Fever.. He is an acccomplished singer, dancer, actor and pilot.

Travolta is a classic-style actor. He is an iconic actor, plus, he can sing and is an awesome dancer. Not many these days can do all that. Love this movie musical. She was a "goody two shoe" turned bad to attract Travolta's character. Her voice can melt a heart, for sure. Another good movie with Travolta was "look who's talking" and the follow up to it "look who's talking II". If you like Travolta these are a must see.

I think his most popular movie would be the one that made him a star (and brought him his first Academy Award nomination for best actor) "Saturday Night Fever". Grease is in the top ten of Travolta movies but younger people remember him from Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty, Phenomenon, Face/Off, Primary Colors, Swordwish, Be Cool, Lonely Hearts, Wild Hogs, Hairspray, The Taking of Pelham 123 and Gotti. Before his comeback role in Pulp Fiction he was also in Saturday Night Fever, Urban Cowboy and three Look Who's Talking movies.

John Travolta - triple threat. Can sing, can dance, can act!! Grease came out when I was about 13, I think. Pre-teen, young teen years. I got the album and played it over and over and over. It's still one of my favorite movies. With one of my favorite songs being "Worse things I could do" sung by Stockard Channing.

Grease is generally reconed to be the best musical of all time. It signifyed what everybody wanted their school days to be like. The movie came out when I was 14 at school and everybody was into it. A real feel good movie. If you like emotional movies can I suggest Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty and Julie Christie, it makes me cry every time, or Michael which also has John Travolta in it, I cry every time with the scene with the dog (wont say any more dont want to spoil it)

@@williammack6083 Absolutely. It is not only one of the best musicals, it is one of the most important musicals. It was the first really successful musical tragedy outside of the opera house. It has the best of Bernstein's popular music and is equally notable for being the show that introduced Broadway audiences to Sondheim. There's some debate as to whether _Oklahoma!_ or _Show Boat_ should take pride of place as the linchpin for the book musical. Kern and Hammerstein's _Show Boat_ (1927), adapted from Edna Ferber's 1926 novel, is certainly the first musical in which the book drives the songs, but it was Rogers and Hammerstein's _Oklahoma!_ (1943) that really changed audience expectations of what a musical could be. That both have lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II suggests he was the driving force behind the idea of the book musical.

Grease is tons of fun. The best musical ever for me is, Jesus Christ Superstar. Lots of people say, Phantom of the Opera, but Superstar has it all. It has Andrew Loyd Webber and Tim Rice, who also made Phantom and it has Ted Neely and a host of great rock performers and dancers to the rock opera. And it's not like you can ever top the storyline, lol.

The other movie is "Labyrinth" Starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly and, of course, music by David Bowie. On a side note, I don't know what software you have started using, but it periodically has a voice over saying it is not registered. It's very annoying.

I remember seeing this in the cinema, coming out, buying another ticket and going to see it again. I did that with 3 movies, Grease, A Star is born (Barbra Streisand version) and Bette Midlers The Rose, when I did it three days in a row. The Rose was loosely based on the story of Janis Joplin but was Bettes' tour de force as an actress..and she puts in some amazing musical performances too. I can recommend any or all of these for your new channel 👍
