"Fly From the Inside" "Cut the Cord" "Bully" "Monsters" are all other Shinedown bangers! "45" "Call Me" "I Dare You" "The Crow and the Butterfly" are slower, but Brent Smith's voice is still incredible. Shinedown is awesome on recordings and even better live!

*'Symptom of being human' is such a great Shinedown song about mental illness that I think everyone can connect to on some level. "Daylight" is another. 'What a shame', 'Call me', second chance', 'Monsters', 'I'll follow you', 'The crow and the butterfly', 'If you only knew', and on and on... they have an amazing playlist.* 🤘🤘🤘

Symptom of Being Human is an epic song by Shinedown - about mental illness and fitting into society. Brent Smith (Singer) and Seth Myers (Guitarist) were destined to make music together. Brent and Seth have a side project called Smith & Myers. If you like Shinedown, take a listen to Glorious Sons (Sawed Off Shotgun) - blow you away.

Lead guitarist (for this album only) was Nick Perri, older brother of singer-songwriter Christina Perri, best known for A Thousand Years. Interestingly, Shinedown songs dealt a lot with mental illness and so does Christina, who herself has been in therapy for clinical depression since she was 8. She couldn't be further away musically but her songs about mental health, Human, I Believe, Tiny Victories and Mothers are low-volume, high-emotional impact.

I love Shinedown and my favorite song is Monsters. I too have a mental health issue that I have been addressing since 1982 when I had a suicide plan and was getting close to carrying it out. This is the result of the premature birth of my first child, who lived for 8 hours. I was convinced that it was my fault and that my body betrayed me. Needless to say I am still in treatment and managing well. Jay, I heard you mention that you too have a mental health issue. Keep on keeping on Brother. Take good care of yourself. A couple of “softer” songs with incredible lyrics and messages I’d recommend are “Daylight” and “A Symptom of Being Human” from their “Planet Zero” album which they wrote during the COVID pandemic. Also, “Get Up” from their album “ATTENTION ATTENTION” is one of my personal favorites given its message. It resonates more and more with me each day as my kids get older.

Another great song about mental health, Shinedown’s, “Second Chance”. Also another good one to take a listen to is “Unwell” by Matchbox 20. Very relatable.

My wife and I have seen them in concert a handful of times, the last time was waaaay back in '13 at the legendary Stone Pony's Outdoor Summer Stage in Asbury Park, NJ. They always put on a kick-butt show.

I recommend listening to every Shinedown album. They switch their stuff up constantly and always offer a new listening experience. There's a reason they have so many #1 hits.

Awesome! Love Shinedown and love to you guys! They have lots of heavy stuff and also some beautiful stuff. Try “Daylight” and “Symptom of Being Human”. More on mental health and just getting the day with someone.

To really appreciate Brent's voice check out his side band, Smith and Meyers. He and guitarist Zack Meyers formed for fun. They do both covers and their own music. They are amazing.

So many great songs. They are huge advocates for mental health. Monsters, Symptom of Being Human, Daylight, Dead don’t Die, 45, Save Me, and I Dare You are just a few of my favorites. Honestly can’t think of a song of theirs that I don’t like.

I actually met the drummer Barry at an airport near where we both lived. He is a great guy and I'm happy that the band is still successful.
