@@j.j.upright4010 in this song it's mostly Mark Farner singing lead with Don Brewer joining in. Farner has the more soul and groove vocals; whereas, Brewer's vocals come across more as husky. But both great singers who complimented each another unfortunately not in personality. Mark Farner was the backbone of the band.

I truly loved this band. Later I watched “Behind the Music” and realized that “sex, drugs, and rock and roll” was not their problem. Their label was stealing from them. They were great musicians whose record company was bleeding them dry.

Our first daughter was about 3 and her and I were driving in my truck. We were stopped at a red light and this song came on the radio. I started singing it to her, she LOVED it, we were having a great time with the music cranked, her laughing and clapping with dad screaming out the vocals . G9t so into it I didn't realize all the vehicles around us were watching and laughing :)

Grand Funk (and Black Oak Arkansas as the warmup band) was the first major rock concert I ever attended. My tastes have embraced many musical changes over the years, but you always gotta go back to your roots! They also had other good songs, like "I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home)", and they did good versions of 'Loco-motion' which you've reviewed by Little Eva, and 'Hooked on a Feelin'.

Coming out of Flint Michigan, late 1960's. In my mind the great grandfather of garage bands, and a heavy influence on rock n roll even today.

There is an urban legend about the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville (it's the round domed building on the back of Bob Dylan's "Nashville Skyline" album) that at a GFR concert in the early 70s, the vibrations from the audience participation during "Foot-Stompin' Music" cracked the foundation. That's right, the folks in Nashville supposedly foot-stomped a little too much. No idea if that's true, but wouldn't it be cool if it were?

No, there are *two* lead singers on this song, drummer Don Brewer (who has the lower voice) and guitarist Mark Farner (who has the higher voice). They trade off parts. Jordan and Amber were raving over Farner's contributions.

Straight-up rock and roll, strong back-beat, plenty of drive...and all in a love song :) And all on simeple blues harmonies (albeit in different order): D-Maj, G-Maj, and A-Maj for the most part...1, 4, 5 chords. Simple yet effective
