This takes me right back to the fall of '83. I was going to school five hours away that fall and made the round trip drive every weekend. A five hour drive from home on Sunday night to attend that school week, and a five hour drive back home on Friday evenings. Ten hours in a car every weekend with nothing but a radio for entertainment will forever drill into your head anything that was getting a lot of airplay at that time. As I passed through and near towns, stations faded in and out, and I chased up and down the dial for a signal, any signal, I feel like I heard this song about every fifteen minutes. 😄 Also Uptown Girl, (Ain't Nothin' Gonna) Break My Stride, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Safety Dance, etc. If it was getting Top 40 airplay that fall, it's drilled into my brain. People who were alive back then will recognize the monotone, synthesized robotic voice on this song as being "inspired by" the voice of the Cylons on the late '70s sci-fi TV series Battlestar Gallactica.
