Denise is accurate. This is an important distinction. Hank Sr. was one of country’s legendary artists.Died too soon. Hank Jr fell down the side of a mountain, was nearly killed, and came back to be a country star in his own right, giving us songs like this one.

This is one song that most every culture can relate to. Country Boy does not refer to a person's race. It refers to a way of life. There are country folk in every state. My grandpa taught me a lot growing up, most everything in this song was how he grew up and tried to bestow in his family. I grew up close to the city, but my heart lies in the country. A shotgun, a rifle and 4 wheel drive was a necessity for life and remains true today.

When covid was at it's worse and people couldn't get out to the stores easily we shared vegetables from the garden with all the neighbors. Nobody went without anything they needed.

Hank, Sr. was a legend. When he died, the country music industry tried to turn Hank, Jr. into him. When Jr. rebelled the industry turned their backs on him. He created his own sound and the rest is history. He often pokes them in the eye, especially in Family Tradition. You should listen to I'll Never Get Out of this World Alive from the album Three Hanks. It is Junior with his son Hank the third, and Hank Sr.'s music filtered in. Awesome (and I don't use that word frivolously). Although Hank the third sounds so much like Sr., he went his own way with music, too.

Hanks father is such an original. A dirt road poet whosesongs will live on and on and on. Hank junior here is very different. Honestly not really my favorite, but nonetheless really good, and he's earned his place in the history of country music. Hank the third is punk country, and while I find some of his music not to my tastes, he's quite good. And now there's Hank the forth, but I haven't listened to him yet. Country guy, here...my first time firing a gun was when I was 9. My parents had a pistol for protection (my dad was an over-the-road trucker and was away from home a lot), and they would take me with them whenever they would go for target practice. I got my own first gun for Christmas when I was 12, a Marlin bolt action .22 rifle, and was allowed to take it out into the woods by myself. My folks were confident that I had heeded their warnings and teachings; I knew a gun isn't a toy but a tool. Never really one for hunting unless absolutely necessary (no hate for hunters, though, of course), I focused more on the precision aspect of shooting. At my high school, there were guns displayed in just about every other vehicle (lots of my classmates headed straight from school to the woods during hunting season)...and no one ever thought about using one because of a problem with someone, not even after getting their ass kicked in a fight. It simply wasn't even a consideration. We do, however, make our own whiskey and our own smoke, too...sipped on some mighty fine 'shine and puffed a few tasty pipes whilst camping with friends over the 4th of July weekend. I moved to the city when I was 30, but it didn't take long for the woods to call me back home. Yeah...it's a 120-ish mile round trip to the nearest mall, but the peace and relaxation more than make up for such inconveniences. I don't even have to lock my doors at night or when I'm not home 🤘

That's the country boy's national anthem, I grew up in a small town it Tennessee we had cows chickens and a 2 acre garden that I was working in everyday just as soon as I was old enough to know what I was doing, every time I hear that song it makes me proud of my roots and upbringing.

Same here. My husband can build it, fix it, weld it and wire it. I have a banging garden and can my produce. We make our own pastas, breads and sauces. He fishes and hunts and we all have a dead eye for shooting. We're both veterans and marksmen. Our girl could hit what she aimed at by age 6. She can fly a plane, and there's nothing we can't drive. We don't need anyone to do anything. We take care of each other and our elderly neighbors. He grew up country and am I was city. I tend wounds, because my nursing degree is just another tool of survival. Country people can get it.

I was born in LA area, but my mom didn't like raising us in the smog and such. She moved us to the countryside of central valley California which is agricultural based. Now my kids have chickens and we grow our own veg and fruit. Heck I went out skeet shooting when I was pregnant with my first lol.

Grew up in the country then moved to the city for a job. Super loved it at first...just how convenient everything was. After about five years, I was over it and couldn't wait to get out. Bought an acre of land in a rural area. Have chickens, rabbits and a garden and I can see the stars again. I don't think I could ever go back to city living. Family Tradition by Hank Williams is also a great one by him.

Fun tidbit. If you noticed, he has the name Bocephus on his guitar. His dad, the late-great Hank Williams, Sr. gave his son this nickname because he thought he looked like a ventriloquist dummy that a comedian used on the Grand Ole Opry.
