To be fair, the story of Hades and Persephone being an actual loving couple was done better in The Dresden Files--but at least they acknowledge the myth there.
@kingofmonsters144 жыл бұрын
well, with so many versions of greek characters, there had to be at least one where Hades and Persephone are madly in love with each other. it was just a matter of when, not if

Well, them being an actually healthy and loving couple is pretty mythically accurate.

Comparing this show to the movie version of Percy Jackson is a little unfair. The books were pretty good and stays pretty true to the original Greek myths.

12:29 Here's a short version - Harmonia married Cadmus (the first king of Athens), he got the gods mad at him and they turned him into a snake. But Harmonia still loved him, so he came back to her and they started making out and this kinda grossed out the gods, so they turned Harmonia into a snake too. It's messed up, but so's a lot of Greek mythology.

Theirs actually three main levels of the underworld. Elysium: This is a great place for heroes a kind of mt.olympus pt.02. You can only get in if you were a hero or someone extraordinary. Elysium was beautiful and was the closest a mortal could get to paradise. Asphodel Meadows: While Elysium was a paradise Asphodel meadows was essentially a second coming of earth. It has its beautiful parts and its not so beautiful parts. It wasn't paradise but it wasn't hell either it was in-between. And as such ordinary people, Those who while didn't commit any bad deeds didn't do anything heroic or extraordinary enough to get up into Elysium. (also you have an option of rebirth here if you are rebirthed 3 times and all three lifetimes you end back up on the Asphodel meadows you can go up to the Elysium) The Fields of Punishment: Finally theirs the places where bad people go. if you've committed atrocious crimes such as murder and what not you go here and there are different levels for what you did. Finally, Hades didn't decide where you went. Nor did one individual judge. They're where three other beings who were originally mortal sons of Zeus but where rewarded after helping with the bringing of law and order on earth; Aeacus, Minos, and Rhadamanthys. When you died these three would judge your life and decide which level of the underworld you would enter. They would discuss it and if the first two came to an agreement than you were whisked away to that level if theirs a disagreement the third dude came into and was essentially the tiebreaker. One essential thing to remember is that a lot of greek cultures didn't see death as the end of life more as though a continuation of life. Also, Another important thing to remember about Greek myth is that theirs always multiple versions of the same story and depending on which version you choose to believe can change your view on the Greek pantheon entirely. One myth states Persephone was kidnapped another stated that it was more of an eloping kind of deal. I tend to follow the second one more often than the first because Hades is actually a pretty decent laid back dude especially when you compare him to his brothers Zeus and Poseidon. (Also a total nerd that named cebrise his three-headed dog spot). A lot of the myth that involve hades and Persephone especially the ones with them as a side character shows a pretty equal relationship with hades listening to what Persephone has to say and doing stuff for her simply because she asked.

My guy, this is exactly how I found this series when I was about 12. I only found it engaging because it was a solid adaption of Greek Mythology despite some abysmal decisions. Just found it again on prime video. Ps: Theresa was a low key baddie
@Xanegoh2 жыл бұрын
One of the reasons Cronus was such a great villain is because he was voiced by David Kaye. You know, Megatron from Beast Wars. He does such an amazing job at the magnificent bastard type of characters, casting him to play the show's big bad was truly the best.

thinking about it, Theseus was sorta psychic. nobody else had the clairvoyance to use string to mark their passage. (i swear, the ancients were dumb as rocks). and he apparently created the Commonwealth system, which is a primitive Democracy system to replace kingship, and founded Athens, which is of course is named after Athena, and she's supposed to be a really smart goddess. yeah, i can see why the writers would pick ESP to be his descendants power. as for Artemis and speed, you need to be pretty fast to catch some of the animals you'd find in Greece and surrounding municipalities like Turkey and Egypt. Cheetahs and Lions be fast beasts and you need to be as fast, if not faster, to chase them or run away. Add in Atalanta, who was pretty much the same, and yeah, Speed could've been a factor for hers. Narcissis..... yeah, i got nothing. i looked- dude had no special powers or deeds outside of his good looks, so they just pulled that out their asses. but seriously, they couldn't pick anyone else? Not Paris or Leonidas? guess they really needed a arrogant prick to round out the quota.

7:30 1 It's probably Canada being like 'Yeah we put gods in Canada, we're tired of being the butt of everyone's jokes.' 2 Why not put in Canada, if you know that Greek gods exist where are going to look first? So why not place gods somewhere that nobody would think of. 3 Greek legends can be arbitrary a really good example the Persephone myth. Why are there winter and fall months well Persephone was kidnapped by Hades and she ate 6 pomegranate seeds in Tartaros and Demeter makes it so when her daughter goes there for the 6 months of the year it's winter and fall. Just imagine some Ancient Greek kid being told this myth and just giving his dad the look like 'Really?' and then was probably raped because it was Ancient Greece and that shit kind of happened.

16:05 actually, there are multiple interpretations of that story, and some say the kidnapping and forced marriage was added later, to vilify hades a bit more some others paint it as being a rather more concensual thing, which is where I believe the show drew from
@alexjewett74552 жыл бұрын
In most versions, the kidnapping is almost entirely framed as Zeus's fault because he told Hades to do it.

hmm~ hearing the history with the final three, i think i have better powers. hear me out: Neil: surprised he didn't get anything with mirrors. you know, reflection, reflecting light (it's more useful then it sounds.), seeing or talking to people Via reflective objects and mirrors. personally, the mirror is kind of underrated when it comes to powers. Atlanta: hmm~ i like the speed powers, but wouldn't it be cooler if she was the Hawkeye of the group? not in terms of a bow and arrow thing, but using items to recoil and hit any item in her sight or just be a skilled marksmen? no..maybe? and i don't mind Theresa's, but for the girl named "The Fighter" kind of missed the point of having a female fighter who knew different martial art styles. eh might just be me. but hey~ that's just me talking.
@SuperSongbird217 жыл бұрын
I reckon Neil's ideal superpower would be the ability to hypnotize people with his good looks and make them do his bidding - you could have him annoy the others by constantly using his power to get girls or free stuff. And in both "Heroes of Olympus" and "Hercules the Legendary Journeys" a child of Aphrodite has this power, so since she's Neil's mentor in this it makes total sense.

the books were bad for example the books made athena a mother except that athena is a virgin goddess since Athena never had a lover or a consort plus athena nickname was athena parthenos aka Athena the virgin people who never want to had offspring , plus they made Blackbeard the son of ares except that Blackbeard was a pirate who know piracy which is to steal from sailor, in fact Blackbeard would be the son of Hermes since Hermes is the god of thieves and Blackbeard is a pirate which is a type of thieve but no, Rick riodan made Blackbeard the son of ares who is a god of war.Also they make Cerberus the guard dog of the underworld into a lapdog which is stupid , also guard dogs are loyal to their master not everyone.

@@seanoneil8073 wow it's like an author cant make creative stories based on his own ideas using the Greek gods, It's like god of war never existed. You dont have to follow everything to a t, saint seiya a Japanese manga doesn't follow Greek mythology closely but who cares as long as the story is good and characters are interesting it doesn't matter.

@Badboy252516 жыл бұрын
@@seanoneil8073 maybe he didn't want to be 100% accurate, that's my point maybe he wanted something using the Greek gods. In his universe the Norse and Egyptian gods live in the same world. No mention of the other pantheons in Greek mythology.
