one of the things that stood out to me is how the band interacts with her, it says SO MUCH about her character and her musicianship. they’re all clearly having SUCH a good time, and they’re listening and reacting to her every movement. musicians don’t do that when they hate the music they’re playing or the person they’re playing for, they only do that when they LOVE what they’re doing. you can’t fake that, especially in a venue this small

Dope review. And I agree about us not seeing more all black women bands. But Beyonce is the first artist I saw to do it. That was during her Deja vu performance at the BET AWARDS in 06’. Then I saw an all female band concept with her artists Chloe x Halle on their Tiny Desk. Check em out. But I agree. We need more of that! Side note, TDE knows how to pick em! And there’s a reason Kendrick said Doechii is the hardest out! He not lying! Female or male, she’s EATING

Seriously watch episode 4 of Ladies First immediately. Yes, Doechii is dope as hell and real AF…. I would argue that your mind will be blown watching that episode of that show… female MCs been bringing it since fucking Roxane’s Revenge… as Latifah (the Queen herself) says at the end of the episode (the series/season)… she reflects back to Nas stating “hip hop is dead”… as Latifah (who founded Flava Unit Productions when she was still a fucking teenager) put it “I do think Nas was right, if the female perspective is not celebrated in hip hop, if the woman’s voice is not heard, then yes, hip hop is dead”….

RobTV, here is a suggestion for you to take a look into the J-pop Genre. The artist Ado, she is 21 and held the 1,2,3,4, and 5th spots in Japan's top 100 at the same time! This artist will make your head spin off. The songs: ODO, Ussewa, and Unravel(live version) are a good start. Lots of people are following her career on KZbin. She just recently did a remix with Imagine Dragons a week ago.
