Looking forward to the groundbait one lad, i usually just fish the hybrid but have purchased a couple of preston methods to play with when the fishing is bang on. Also you have completely changed how I prepare my pellets from a previous vid and it's so simple and works everytime, can't thank you enough! Maybe for the ground bait one you can show the groundbait to water ratio as I'm thinking about switching to the dynamite green/halibut 50:50 mix I've heard much about. Keep up the good work.

Morning Rob, can you do a test hybrid vs pellet feeder. Not sure if my pellets are correct for pellet feeder. I don’t like the presentation on a pellet feeder. By the way I buy bulk skrettings & add a glug.

Hi Rob, How funny i did the same yesterday in a bucket and got the same results. I investigated differently soaked pellets to see what effect they had on the feeders. all very interesting. Keep up the good work and videos.

Very interesting love watching how the food in the feeder reacts and just show how little bait you need really as you want the fish picking out your hook bait not getting a free meal

Great tank test Rob like other comments would like to see pellet feeder at work plus some tank tests with sticky pellet used on these feeders too. Thanks for sharing 🌟

Brilliant vidoe as usual Mr Wootton. I did the very same test a couple of weeks ago . (I was out in the garden at he time .my wife looked at what i was doing and just shook her head and walked back in the house ...) Both with pellets and ground bait and a mixture . Both are great feeders . For different situations . The conditions and the fish will tell you how and what to use and the fish will tell you what they want it . Proper hair cut that ..ive done the same . I think every one it absolutely itching to get out on the bank .once the lock down is over . Stay healthy Tight lines . Once again brillant video 👍👍👍

Good informative video Rob. But have you seen the Matrix submerge video with Rob Hughs & Jamie Harrison ? Amazing how much bait comes off the feeder when it hits the water & the hook bait nearly all ways ended up behind the feeder. Would well come your comments. Stay safe

Yep - I’ve done similar tests .... it’s moulding the pellets and using the correct pellets that’s the key.

Hi Rob, I was fascinated by this video as I'm still not sure about the presentation of the hook bait. I am going to experiment with placing the hook bait in first then covering it with pellets/groundbait. I have watched a few of this type of tank test video and have noticed that the hook bait is often pushed off the gear by pellets underneath. As you point out the bait can be pushed of the feeder and the fish can miss it. I want a small amount of bait with the hook bait so the carp can suck it in together! Have you tried loading the feeder in this way? Your thoughts would be appreciated. Regards Bill
@RobWootton4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Bill, I always like the hookbait to be seperate and uncovers if I’m honest - yes I’d like it on top of the feed but I’d rather it be easily picked up by a fish with no feed pellets covering the hook. I think sometimes when it’s buried deeper it looks good but the hook is covered with pellets
@johnbambury33804 жыл бұрын
That’s great in theory Rob but surely when you cast these out 30 or more yards most of the pellets and almost certainly the hook bait comes off the feeder.Maybe not with short fishing shallow lakes like commercials.I fish a club lake for good size bream and it’s about 35 yards wide and catch lots of them on hybrids with pellets or methods on the drop in only 4 feet of water so surely bait must be out of feeder
@RobWootton4 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you cast - a nice soft landing is mega important
@johnbambury33804 жыл бұрын
Rob Wootton Fishing yeah I admit I’m not best caster in the world but also when the underwater videos were on utube with top anglers testing it almost all the time the bait came off when they hit the clip .Also Rob thanks for reply and I love your videos and after 60 years of fishing I’m still learning😀
@RobWootton4 жыл бұрын
I’ve done similar stuff checking a feeder after a cast ... it definitely depends on casting style whether the bait comes off on impact

Nice and clear, wonder what effect tow has on the hybrid, with its enclosed sides, compared to the open method🤔👍🏻.
@RobWootton4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Dave, I guess the hybrid holds the bait a bit better in extreme tow but without setting up a wave machine in the tank it’s hard to prove 😀😀

Nice video Rob, what method mix do recommend for natural water?
@Poppaai4 жыл бұрын
if you cant cast a method feeder the right way , use the hybrid feeder, when the method feeder lands wrong on the surface of the water, your whole presentation is gone. also when you cast make sure when you hit the clip , don't hold your rod backwards but point it forwards so your feeder lands the right way on the water.

Hi Rob, great content, as usual! Would you say that the depth in which you are fishing affects how you prepare your pellets or is it more to do with what feeder you use?
@RobWootton4 жыл бұрын
It’s more to do with the feeder choice. Although for really deep water I’d make my pellets a tiny bit stickier.

Never used one but, watching the underwater shots/hook bait falling to the side , would a method with the additional hook bait table I.e guru offer an advantage?
@RobWootton4 жыл бұрын
A larger hybrid feeder under filled and a heavy hookbait is the best way of keeping it central .... if that’s what you’re after.
@davidcrookes53724 жыл бұрын
Rob Wootton Fishing ,yep ok,can see that,prefer method in water upto 5/6ft,feel hybrid comes into its own past these depths. Thanks for your thoughts,enjoying all your films,look forward to the next one.

So, if the hybrid feeder of 18g is loaded with feed to become 25g, why is it claimed to have 6g of feed and not 7g? Then the method feeder of 20g is loaded to 31g and claimed to have 9g of feed. Why not 11g? The tests shows that if you put 57% more feed on a feeder with no side walls, more bait falls off much quicker - is this serious? Guess what would happen if you put even fewer pellets into a feeder that had higher walls and a clip-on roof?
@GUZGOG14 жыл бұрын

just learning about feeder fishing an this video just openned a massive can of worms haha, iv watch steve ringer, jamie hughes etc an they all soak there pelets for around 2 minutes, then i come across this video soking them for a hour an half, please explain this coz am so confused now 😂
@RobWootton2 жыл бұрын
The soaking your talking about is submerging the pellets in plenty of water before draining off. I add a smaller amount of water and let it gently absorb into the pellets over time, a bit like mixing groundbait.
@geofflukins89134 жыл бұрын
Did you see that Jamie Hughes actually puts a shot on the hooklength close to the bait so as to weigh the bait down and prevent it rolling off. Be interesting to see how that actually works in the tank.
@RobWootton4 жыл бұрын
Geoff , there’s loads of things that you can try to get the hookbait to stay put. I was setting this up as a standard feeder setup that most people use to give an idea of bait breakdown.... a heavy bait and supple hooklength is the way to go if you want the hookbait to stay in the middle of the pile.

I’m sorry I just don’t see how you can compare dropping a feeder from a few inches into a tank of water from the real thing when your chucking a feeder from distance and it’s hitting the water from a far greater height so for me is test proves very little
