This is great, and I'd love to show this to my middle schoolers as way to introduce AE and motion graphics in an introductory multi-media course, except that I can't because of language restrictions. I'm no prude, and mild cursing is definitely not offensive to me personally, but it's not my call when it comes to school. So, I'm going to absorb as much as I can from you about how to demo AE in an easily understood manner and use that knowledge to present it to my students. You're awesome!

@@RobynO_O Hi! I set out to learn the ADOBE suite finally this year, which led me to 2D character animation, which led me to the 12 principles. I have learned a LOT, but I cannot find those silly arcs thing-a-ma-gigs to create a curve. Any videos to suggest? Is there another way to create a curve. I have jumped from hobbyist to creating a Jamaican/Canaidain series and while I plan to learn things over time, I need to throw a mango now! Can you help? you can use the convert vertex tool. It's in the top menu bar, if you click on the little arrow for the pen tool, there's a drop down and you'll see the convert vertex tool. Use that to then click on the keyframe in your composition panel,and a little handle will appear

You did a good job explaining every thing, even if its a bit quick. Every time I have to use After Effects I remember why I hate what editing has become. Yeah. I'm an old guy. I made my bones when editors were editors, graphic artists were graphic artists, and motion graphics were done by DVE. It's just SO MUCH is asked of you now and guess what? I make ten grand a year less now than I did when I had to have so much less knowledge and fewer specialized deep skill sets. It's a computer geeks world. I just try to live in it. But I sure don't like it. Your content was helpful though. Thanks!

I feel the same way sometimes even though I haven't been in the industry as long as you might have. I feel like we're expected to be able to do a bit of everything, but it would be great to focus and specialise and become a true expert at one thing rather than having to master so many different things.

It's so refreshing to read this comment and the reply. I think it's a very interesting subject too. I consider myself a storytelling video editor but have had to learn motion graphics from scratch, which sometimes is great but takes so long to master.. This is a great video, thank you.

Funny how I've come across your video about AE experience on motion graphics-related job positions, after I've exaggerated my experience there. 😊😂😂 Checked out ur channel, really useful on point content on starting off in the industry & how to learn and grow. I just have a few questions, what setup would you recommend for AE in a home office environment? I have seen that you're using a double monitor setup on a Windows machine, but was wondering if the new M1 iMacs with ramped up RAM would be suitable for handling AE for basic motion graphics and animation, and even some light C4D effects? If not, what other Windows workstation would you recommend for handling AE well for motion graphics?
@Ces9113 жыл бұрын
Hey, I have a Mac mini M1, 2020, with 16 GB RAM with two Acer monitors and it's working fine for learning basic stuff, not sure about very complex compositions yet but so far so good, I do use it more intensely with Premier and it performs really well, sometimes I have Lightroom, Photoshop and Premier working at the same time and it has never lagged or failed. Provided you give them enough scratch disk space.

Overlord changed my life, saves soooo much time :D.
