The Newbury ROC post had a small green shed in the compound. It ceased to be used operationally in 1991. The access shaft is notoriously difficult to secure on ROC posts. Owners are concerned about the liability issues, so some farmers position a very large concrete block on the lid to prevent break-ins. In this case it looks like they filled it in.

The trig point is used by ordnance survey to make accurate maps. The top section is a metal plate with three holes in a triangle shape you put a device on the top and links up with GPS satellites and detects any rise or fall in the surface of the land. Yet again an amazing video. I have a local ROC site total overgrown by bushes and in a quarry. Which I will be seeking permission to view.

At 08:03, that is indeed a type of fungus. It's a Giant Puffball (Lycoperdon giganteum). They're very good to eat, although this one is a bit elderly. If you find one that's white, and they can grow bigger than a football, then pick it. You can cut the top off, hollow it out, then fill it with the hollowings, some bacon, herbs and seasoning, then wrap it in foil, and cook it slowly at a low heat. Or you can cut it into large slices like steaks, coat them in seasoned breadcrumbs, and shallow fried for ten minutes or so. It's good.

Hi guys, that cable you were looking at is whats known as aerial cable, thats copper telephone wire pairs in a bundle of 10 or perhaps 20 in the instance you saw there. The site would have many monitoring lines going to it as it could have more than one providers equipment located there hence the larger size cable serving it. Loving the videos by the way! Any help you need with identification of telecoms stuff just ask (ex bt chappy 20 yrs service) 👍

Blimey lads, I remember the last time you wondered what this type of structure was and yes you did jump off it! My answer is the same a Trig point is a reference point on high ground used in surveying, typically marked by a small pillar.

As you were pulling away at the start of the video, that looked very much like a tardy green Morris 1000 traveler with a roof rack. :)

The cold ash site has an easier entrance with parking. Just have to watch out for dog turds. The green cabin on left of the main gate is an old cable and wireless cabin.

@@benocphotography Hi, look for the big mast. Near the school. There’s a footpath that runs down past the plastic cabins. They were Cable and Wireless cabins before Vodafone bought them out.
