"Update Thread" - I mentioned this in my review, but right now none of the EQ or sound settings work which is being addressed. ROCCAT has updated Swarm to warn you of this when you first open the application. I will update this comment once custom sound settings work, but for now, just note you will be using the out of box audio configuration. Here's a screenshot of what you'll see... imgur.com/bAuPASQ

Thank you for the review. Another great video!! One thing to mention, but the only other headset with charging station that allows you to use an external power source is the recently revised RIG 800HS. The only other one that I know of would be the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless which had a dedicated DC input. Other than these three, I don't think there is any others.

I have the Nova Pro Wireless, Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max, A30s and the InZone H9 lol and they all sound amazing. From call of duty, God of War, Gran Turismo 7 the sound quality on all 4 are great. As you can tell I play on the PS5. I own those 4 headsets because of your reviews, I believe you are the best headset reviewer on YT with the amount of detail in your reviews but when you talked sound quality of the headsets I listed above to how you compared them to this Roccat headset I feel like there’s a hint of bias because you were sent the Roccats? Maybe it’s just me but from the way your opinion “changed” about the sound quality of the Roccats competitors to their own individual reviews was a bit odd. Still love the videos! Keep up the good work

You might pick up new things when returning to headsets you haven't heard when revisiting and comparing. My opinion has changed about the gear I own, when I get something new I always compare it to my old stuff. I mean why keep it if it's not an upgrade right? While comparing, I'll notice flaws in sound on my older stuff that I never noticed before, resolution, sound stage or whatever.

This is the problem with some headset companies. They don’t do enough to compete. Yeah maybe the sound is really good, yeah it’s comfortable, but in 2022 to release a brand new headset with only 16 hours battery life is definitely a deal breaker. It has a charging dock, but the problem with built in batteries just like any other electrical device is, more frequently you charge a battery, quicker you deplete it’s overall battery life and won’t last as long. That’s why SteelSeries developed their batteries to be swappable, so after a while if the battery life starts to reduce, simply buy a new pair for £20 I’ve tried and tested many headsets including the latest SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro and I can honestly say that to my hearing the sound difference between the new headsets compared to their previous versions isn’t night and day, so it’s definitely not worth upgrading until a completely new driver is developed I think the best sounding headset is still the Audeze Penrose and the sound between this and any other headset is actually night and day, but the Audeze Penrose has so many faults like very low battery life, uncomfortable, connection issues, even it’s dedicated app on an iPhone isn’t compatible with the Penrose To me it seems like these headset companies are now concentrating more on features and functions rather than actually developing a brand new sound technology and it’s obvious why and that is because a new driver technology needs to be developed I think I’m sticking with my Astro A20 Gen 2 until I see something actually new and not another headset where the company more concentrated on the features and functions instead of the sound. As I mentioned above I’ve tried and tested many headsets and they all give me the same distance and clarity for in game footsteps, give or take a couple of decibels and meters. I still think with the Astro A20 Gen 2, Astro accidentally developed a great headset without realising and priced it cheap at £100. It’s loud enough, great clarity, great imaging and great comfort on the ears with its memory foam velour ear pads. When Audeze releases the next generation Penrose I’ll try that instead of any other brand, because I’m not confident with other brands releasing a new headset that’s isn’t going to be a night and day difference compared to its previous version

Well said.

17.5 hours with RGB off should be enough for 99% of gamers. Just put it back on the dock whenever you're not using it, and you should never run out of battery. You can also have it charging while using it, and probably get hours worth of use out of a 45 min charge while plugged in and gaming.
@famezy91032 жыл бұрын
@@xblur17 Yeah true, but that’s not the point I’m making. The point is, if the competition has headsets with double the hours of battery life, then it’s a bad move to have such low battery life. The other point is, I’m confident the sound of this headset isn’t going to be any different to the competition and there are headsets out there less than £200 that would give you the same if not better sound. No way anyone can tell me this headset at £250 is going to beat something like the new SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless or Audeze Penrose or even much older wireless headsets that were premium priced headsets. It’s obvious they’ve concentrated on features and functions more than anything else

This is the first wireless headset im buying and i plan to use it primarly on PC, Switch and Steam Deck, for gaming, also gonna use them to watch series on a tablet. Im just not sure about one thing, do the Roccats come with an USB A dongle? Or do they just work with the dock? In that case i would have to connect to my devices other than the PC via Bluetooth, that would not matter to watch series but, would the gaming experience on the Steam Deck/Nintendo Switch worsen? (I only play shooters/competitive games on the PC, so i don´t think the high latency would be a problem there, im talkin about the sound quality in general), sorry for the long text. I understand the Penrose have slightly better audio quality while the Syn Max Air are more comfortable, (i also know all the issues people tend to have with the Penrose). So I’m not giving anyone advice on games cause I suck anyway. But shopping? I can do that. 1. It’s close to the holidays and depending on where you are massive deals are incoming. 2. don’t rule out models from 2020 or 2021 UNLESS there is a feature you have to have! 3. Always look for performance to price. Example Turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2 were awesome for 150$ if you see them for 75$ that’s a huge performance for little price. 4. Always know the return policy and time limits, use the best and easiest sites/stores for returns. 5. Watch other reviewers NOT BECAUSE I DONT TRUST GADGETRY but because I HOLD HIM AS ONE OF THE BEST. If other reviewers agree it’s a slam dunk. Hope you find what your looking for! PS: I went with turtle beach stealth 700 gen 2, based off this channel. Love them compared to my previous Astro A50gen 3, the USB sound on the Astros seemed off. After getting the TB700G2 I could hear details I couldn’t with astros on XSX at least. Anyway found them on Walmart new for 99.99$ a month ago and got a 25$ rebate for some reason so ended up spending like 82$ on the headset. You have a way higher budget and can basically get anything if you time it right!

EDIT: Avoid these like the plague, mine had a faulty mic, confirmed by Roccat support, still waiting on it to be resolved 2 months later. Also they turn themselves off when they receive no sound for a short period (this can't be disabled) even when connected to bluetooth so you think you can take calls then realise the headset powered off. The voice over announcements when turning these on takes about 20 seconds and drowns out everything else being played. The dock is super fiddly to get the headphones in the correct position to charge. They are a very large fit and I have large head. Also after using for a couple of months the audio quality is mediocre at best.
@jimmy-the-bear Жыл бұрын
Thought I would just add a few points now that I have had these headphones for a couple of weeks. - Headphones don't just easily seat in the dock for charging, you have to mess around a bit to get it in the correct position. - Would be great if they powered on/off when you put them on or take them off the dock - Headphones don't hold their position when you take them off, so you do have to re-adjust them every time you use them - Power on & bluetooth buttons are really slow to respond, maybe 5 seconds before you get the audible notification that the button press worked - I have a big head and use these on the smallest setting and clamping force is light so definitely try them on somewhere first if you have a small head. Otherwise the audio quality is really good, mic is decent those few things aside I still really like these headphones.

I also used it for 2 months and my thoughts are similar to yours. First of all, my head is small, so it is not fixed properly, the parts that stretch and shrink are not fixed well, so it is uncomfortable, and it takes a few seconds to place it on the charging dock, which is annoying. However, I really like the soft cushion and good sound. I think it would be a really good headset for people with small heads.

Do you have a firewall or VPN running while trying to do the update? I just got them today and had no problem updating. Both the base and the headset needs to be plugged un to the computer.

i think i do have firewall but not too sure im going to have to check that. Thank you!

@@brucelevy i got it to update but now when im in a game of mw3 i cant hear people talk in the proximity chat. Do you happen to know why?

Y’know, 16 hours is good because you can just charge it overnight.

The mic sounds like you're stuck in a tin-can underwater. Am I missing something? How does that qualify as good audio?
@GadgetryTech Жыл бұрын
Sounds like you are using Bluetooth or the game audio is being sent to the chat audio. It definitely doesn't sound like that if the output is set correctly.

Anyone who's tried both this one and the Arctis Nova 7, which one is better? My Razer Blackshark v2 Pro has had static issues since I got it, and it's getting worse as time goes on so I'm looking to upgrade.

Nova 7 seems a little more stable but Syn Max sounds better. Much more powerful sound

Maybe made in the same Chinese factory as turtle beach. Same tones. Same kinda pads and copied super human hearing .

That battery life….

yeah but with the dock it's much less likely it will get depleted too soon
@xblur172 жыл бұрын
@@tokyo1937 I feel this is what people are missing out on. You can just quickly drop it on the dock, or if you forgot to charge it, just have your headset temporarily plugged in while gaming - which also charges it. 17.5 hours of battery life (with RGB off) should be enough for 99% of gamers, rarely does anyone goes for longer than that without taking breaks - and if you do - this one ain't for you maybe.

THIS HEADSET DOES NOT HOLD UP WELL. I bought this and was never blown away by the sound because I come from from the expensive Asus headsets (Best sound quality I've tried in a headset). However, I was decently satisfied until an update on the roccat swarm software f'ed it all up. No sound what so ever, unless I pair my pc to the headset via bluetooth and shortly after, the right earcup broke (I have dropped it very few times and it never leaves my desktop). ALL WITHIN A YEAR! Do not recommend

just get nova pro wireless and be done with it.

I tested the Nova Pro for a few days and disliked it, returned it. Hoping for more out of this one.

@@xblur17 dumb dumb if you think these can beat the nova pro.

@@xblur17 Did you end up getting this one? I'm debating between the nova 7 and this one, which one did you like better?

Do not buy, it is not worth your money. The stand is very impractical and ineffective. You have to struggle while the pins line up to charge the headphones!

I have the headset but im making updates to software but once an update fails, it won't let me update it again. I can't even reinstall software because it won't let me delete it. Might refund and I don't recommend this headset.
