Sure wish Trains Magazine would move the camera they have located there back a bit and to the right about 2 to4 inches giving the rail fan a better experience looking at the signal aspect indications on the U.P.

Always visited here as a kid. Something I always wondered is why there were 3 signal heads for each track on the west end. I know that with 2 signal heads, the bottom one is for diverging, but what would a third one mean? Now there is one less signal head on both ends, why is that?

Must say I am not impressed with the time lifting and lining up the first set of new lights. Thing is swinging about - should be at least TWO lines on it with men at the end of each!. Worker at top of the leg should have a pointed steel rod to assist with the line up. Don't look like a professional team of engineers at all. Crane operator falls short of skills too. What a bunch. Wouldn't be allowed anywhere near a railway in UK! Are these railway workers or just hired for the day to erect and dismantle the signals?? The second team and mobile crane operator were pretty clueless taking an eternity to load the signal platform, after a failed initial cutting, onto the trailer. Nobody seemed to be in charge or have any real idea how they should do it. Is there no foreman, with a life time of working on such tasks there to keep them right. They obviously wanted to make this a full day's work - if not more!! Pathetic! NO sign of any safety harnesses etc being used - our health a safety people would have a field day with these crews.

They were three crews there two from the railroads and one subcontractor if you look closely the bridge that came down the guy was wearing a safety harness.

Might have had one on, but did not appear to connect himself to the structure. Little point having it!
