@TheNovaJohn I built a 383 with aluminum heads and a cam wanted to keep aluminum intake and qjet for hood clearance started engine would not idle thought it had a vacuum leak It was doing just like yours I will do as you say to correct my idle circuit thanks for your help

Good information wish the volume was louder. Doing the same on my 69 Vette 427 Quadrajet. Idle mixture screws backed out but couldn’t richen up the idle.

I rebuilt my Chevy 350 in my boat. Only heads I could find used with 64CC chambers was an old set of fuelys. I port matched and used 1.6 rockers. Actually the chambers were more like 62CC but but I needed it. Left the stock cam. It handles a little more pitch on the prop but it’s a little lean up top and I don’t feel like taking it apart so I’m gonna try to make some secondary metering rods on my lathe. They are CM .041”. Should I try like a .038” maybe? It’s only a little more HP than stock

Ran great, ya wanna be careful here, there's a point where the rod is the same size and as long as its up that high it wont matter

was that a 1705 single main air bleed truck carb it's rare to see a single MAB on a car I'm guessing it's because it's a 800 cfm most guy's don't like M4M's with SMAB on cars some thing about it being to hard to tune I'm the opposite i say it's better it has better power potential and better mpg's just requires more patients and skill to setup I'm about to start a build on a M4MED SMAD for my C30 454 great video.

I dont remember now, I sold that car due to life changes and I have bad dreams about it lol Yea, it takes a little more tuning but its not hard.. I do remember that when I sold it, the engine ran great, no matter how hot or cold,,,If it snowed, it started and ran on choke then kicked down,,Never bogged either!

Any Idea where to start??? My Qjet primary is discharging fuel on the drivers side only at idle. My idle mixture screw is closed off on that side. The passenger side adjusts fine?

time to take it apart, sounds like a leaky gasket and or dirt!

Agreed, one of my 1st vids, I sold all my stuff, sadly, divorce and health issues, so I'm into small engines again for now, hopefully one day I can get back to more car stuff I luv these carbs and it ran great on my 400

your engine is a silky smooth idling 400 Pontiac with a very small cam. Why don't you just buy a new or rebuilt Qjet for that application ? I can see changing idle air bleeds, idle jets if there was a big whomping cam in it with only 10" vacuum...but all that tinkering when what you need is a new app specific carb, makes no sense to me.
