With the child dilemma, I was with my ex- husband for 5 years and he had a daughter from his first marriage. We were together from the age she was 3-8. When we got divorced I took her out to dinner and told her that she had a mom and a dad that loved her a lot and that she did nothing wrong but we wouldn't be hanging out anymore. It broke my heart because she was my baby. But at the end of the day, she had a mom and a dad. She had people who loved her. It hurt, but was best.

Real shit! I got with my now husband when my son was 2 months old, my son is 3 now and my husband has raised him like his own although my child's father has been in his life the whole time. We have all been very mature about the situation. My child's father has a GF that he's been with for years and a son that's about a year older than my son and we exchange our child every Monday keeping him a week at a time. It might not be ideal for the guy in the dilemma but all he can do is move on, let go and let God and I promise he will see the situation for what it is and move accordingly 😊😊 much love to all cult babies ❤

As a woman with a child, it's up to the mother to set boundaries with the kid and the man to understand: this is the man mommy is in a relationship with, this is not your father, but he does have the male role in this household. Its sounds more complicated than it actually is. It's a simple matter of RESPECT. Plus I take a LONG time before a man meets my child. My child has only met my boyfriend after we dated for a year. Being a RESPONSIBLE single mom can make dating very difficult on both parties. My child has never seen a man in my life other than her dad and my boyfriend but I have DATED. It is what it is.

I've had a higher ratio of male friends all my life, and it's always been very frustrating having to deal with comments especially in my case from people older than me trying to imply more than what was going on. Took a long time for family members to accept that's just how my dynamic was and they still hold a firm belief that deep down my male friends would have something more if given the chance. My last relationship also had a similar issue and that was very hard to deal with and was pretty isolating. The story about trying to step up and raise kids that weren't his hit different. I was in a relationship with a girl that had 2 kids when we got together. One was 3 and the other one was 2 months. Me and her never had a kid together but long story short me and her ended up breaking up after 3 years because she secretly was talking to another guy behind my back. Her reasoning was that i worked too much and was showing her enough attention. The hardest thing i had to do was tell the then 6 year old that i wasnt going to be staying there anymore. Listening to her cry broke my heart. She was so attached to my hip that whenever she got out of school she would be under my wing until it was time for her to go to bed. The crazy thing is the kids used to call me dad and i never told them to. I just helped provide for them. It was the hardest thing in my life to deal with. Big ups to him though.

I love how real this got during the platonic vs romantic conversation. I know that I carry a lot of insecurities when it comes to female friends for my male partner and I tend to overcorrect when it comes to my male friends. I intentionally do not hang out alone with men or with men my partner hasn’t met. I was raised (and am still advised by my parents at 26 years old) that it’s a matter of respect. I’m trying to break this cycle, but it’s one of the more difficult ones I’ve faced. It runs deep and takes a lot for a partner to stick through, so I encourage empathy and understanding for anyone going through the same.

It’s crazy hearing this cause I’ve actually had female friends who either “slowed down” communication or hanging out with me when they got boyfriends. But not for the average reason of their man became their top priority BUT because they didn’t want their man looking at me any kind of way. And losing a friendship, especially with someone whom you’re so close to, who knows your struggles, family, because of their mistrust and insecurities kills the heart. I’m talking about the 40 minute mark conversation.

I'll agree true opposite sex friendships can exist but the majority of them atleast one person wants to fuck

Dumbest take ever. Just because it worked in their situation, doesn’t mean it works all the time. We’ve seen a million examples of men and women being just friends and that turning into love or friends with benefits later on. So knowing that, why would anyone risk it? No one with half a brain is gonna risk that happening, so if you’re hung up on having friends of the opposite sex over a potential marriage, then you got your priorities messed up.

@@turanx0 you're revealing an insecurity. Work on yourself and you'll attract a worthy partner of higher value.

@@veryfitting It’s not an insecurity, it’s risk assessment and respect. I made that very clear. I already have a high value wife, stop projecting your tunnel vision upon others.

@@turanx0 so does your wife have any male friends at all? Is she allowed them?

I was hanging out with a couple of guys one night in my last year of high school after having had a few beers and me and one of the boys wanted to go for a walk just the two of us so I opened the trunk to grab a hoodie. Being a girl, my pants had no pockets so I set the keys, wallet and cellphone down in the trunk and the boy closed it as I pulled the hoodie over my head. Needless to say, it killed the mood.

That last dilemma...that mother would have to stay away from my family! I left you to babysit my kids...NOT SEARCH MY HOUSE!!! She didn't even wait till they got back to talk to her son about it if she was concerned...she called the cops!

I feel like it depends on the situation because my dad did that. He took on three kids that were not his own two of which were almost teenagers there was initially a bit of drama with my biological father but my dad simply pointed out that my bio was garbage who had traumatized us and walked out of our lives like a thief in the night didn’t care about us when that was happening so why does he care who is raising his children? Then my bio left again and I haven’t heard from him since and that was 19 years ago.
