I love that the instructor and owner is actually a former stripper! So many pole fitness trainers want to erase sex workers from its history.

I haven't gotten that impression from any pole studio I have visited or in competition. I will say however, that Pole Sport has offered a newfound respect for traditions and the history of pole. In fact, vertical pole dancing was long before "sex workers" it was a form of military training for the Eastern Region of the world. It was taken into the U.S. as a form of circus acts and then brought into the clubs as entertainment - the rest is history. So it didn't start in heels, and it certainly won't end in heels. But heels is a part of pole dancing but NOT required and never was. Let's not assume that "sex work" was where this originate from because it wasn't. It was transformed by it and most athletes like myself have huge respect for it. That doesn't mean that because I want to be scored on the code of points that I'm erasing history. It means I want to be scored objectively instead of subjectively.

@Abby R So.. ... was "Vertical Pole Dancing" in the Historical Lexicon during the thyme of Greece and Roman Pompeii,? .. There Is.. ...Multiple (Established) Sources that say "Sex Work" WAS .. Around, if not Burgeoning and Prospering during this time .. (If You'd like, I can be (even) more specific..) I'm Definitely Smelling what Your Selling.. ... however.. I think this might kinda be a chicken and egg, if a tree falls in the forest does it make a noise sorta thing ..
@enricokramer7469 Жыл бұрын
@@drumbum3.142 Performing various acrobatic exercises on a wooden pole was originally a form of fitness training in the military and monastic schools of ancient China and was only performed by men. so you can leave out the sex worker card. Btw, ancient greece and the roman empire where not the eastern part of the world.

She wasn’t kidding when she said it usually takes months to do an invert. And to do an invert on a spinny pole without any grip at your waist… that requires a lot of strength and control that someone without a strong background in climbing or acrobatics or somethings doesn’t have. Amazing job Alayna 🎉 and don’t be downhearted if you try pole and it doesn’t go like that. Like they say at the end, there is a great joy in “unlocking” a new level. When I first started, I NEVER imagined how I could ever even do an invert, and now I can do so much more. You get bruises and scrapes and burns but it’s 300% worth it to me. Pole has pushed me mentally (a lot of things are really scary) and physically and I love it for that💃🥰
@thirdoctoberchild Жыл бұрын
And thank you Alayna for sharing pole with your online community! It’s a wonderful sport and I’m happy to see it enjoyed and highlighted ❤️
@EE.333 Жыл бұрын
well that's because she didn't do a true invert. she jumped into it using the force from her legs, which is how a lot of people learn to start inverting. Especially if people start off strong, they tend to "force" a lot of moves that fitness newbies have to learn from the ground up. that's why she cues her to use momentum. Because that's what she's using, not grip or strength

I can highly recommend the sport to you. not only is it a fantastic full body workout, if you are a bit further and realize what your own body can do, you get a much better body feeling. This also leads to a huge boost in self-confidence. you just feel better and you look healthier too. little context when i started i weighed just over 141 pounds at just over 6 feet tall. a year later i weighed 161 pounds and none of it was body fat. since the core muscles are mainly trained, you look very athletic and not as pumped up as in the gym. Added to this is flexibility and mobility. i don't want to lie, as a man it's a good feeling when women regularly turn around after one and the sport is really fun.

OMG That was soo good for a first timer! I needed around 4 months to invert and she did on her first time!
@EE.333 Жыл бұрын
that's because she didn't really do a controlled invert. she was cued to use force and momentum from her legs to get upside down, rather than slow and controlled form your abs like most people learn to do slowly over months and months of training. most people can learn how to do this forced invert within a few classes if they have decent hand grip strength.

I'm a straight 50 yr old guy who has NEVER been to a strip club and doesn't like seeing girls in "that" situation. But.. "Rock climber" and "pole Dancer"... I couldn't resist.... Glad I clicked.... this was a lot of fun.... I love the term "Naked Athlete" - thats gonna stick with me. And that woman has STRENGTH!!! The way she flips her body up, all held in her upper arms (I think) but even the stomach muscles to hold that pose... she is seriously strong. If she's got a black belt in something (and looking at her, she probably does) thats a gown up Buffy Summers. Clicking on this I was worried "Meh - is this just some tacky wanna be porn?" Nope - this was a bunch of girls having fun and enjoying a day. Great to watch. Yes what they are doing is sexy, but thats not the point. Its the having fun that matters. Nothing is sexier than a pretty laugh ;)

as a stripper i’m so glad to see that you went to a former stripper, there’s such an issue in the pole industry of civilians (non SWs/strippers) taking money out of the pockets of strippers, cutting strippers out of the narrative and origins, and overall just appropriating the very same things that marginalize us while providing no material advocacy. the pole fitness industry is actively harming us in a lot of ways and at the same time i think it’s so important for those instructors who are strippers or former strippers to be able to make money and run their businesses within that industry.
