@@gmaerowed Yes, absolutely, I did so for the same reason. I get shaky on a step ladder. So, I started to slowly get confidence on short, topping out problems, before moving onto taller problems that I would get nervous just looking at. One of these taller ones in particular, I could climb most of it relatively well. It was the final dynamic move that made me freeze up each time. Knowing that I would drop like a rock if I faltered made me just climb down each time (not before rocking up and down over and over to prepare myself for the move, only to keep my hands glued to the hold, which probably looked hilarious to spectators). Eventually I went for it, and actually got it on that attempt. Pure elation. I have a long way to go still, but I know I can prove it to myself now.

I also am scared of free climbing as I do not like falling, so I prefer to do the harness with someone controlling it if I happen to slip.
