Rock Island Armory 1911’s ( Any Good? )

I bought a Rock Island M200 4" .38 revolver several years back and recently it was having cylinder timing issues,I contacted Rock Island they sent me a shipping label and I sent it in,4wks and it was back, fixed the timing tuned the whole action,lightened the trigger pull double and single action wow now its my factory custom I could never afford.Rock Island claims a lifetime warranty and they mean it! I already have a full size 1911 S&W but as soon as I find RI 1911 4.25 for sale I'm defenetly gonna take it home.Enjoy your down home video's country boy from a Missouri neighbor.

Their revolvers are junk. Cylinder binds from heat expansion. I had similar issues with my m206, and sent it to them. They sent it back claiming that cylinder binding is "normal." Sideplate would also bulge out due to heat expansion, which I "solved" by using loctite blue.

I have an RIA officers tactical and full size tactical 1911 and absolutely love them. After a little smoothing they are nice and slick. Great guns.

In 2021 I went to Rural King to look at guns found full size Ria 1911 10mm and was on sale for 409 dollars and thought it would be a paper weight, but started shooting it at our homemade range and couldn't believe that first 100 rounds never a problem, put 300 more rounds in it and no problems, love this gun and will keep it , my friends shot it and now all of them now own one, 45s, 9s, and 10mm. We all have different guns but when come over they bring there 1911s. Subbed and great video.

Ive heard several years back that they had problems, but fast forward to today and i got one, RIA 1911 gi cs .45acp and its been working great. 500+rounds so far, various types of ammo, no probs.

I have a couple of RIA 1911's. One in 9MM that is just loads of fun to shoot and a burnt bronze in 45 ACP that I bought used. The used one I bought sight unseen over the internet from what I thought was a reputable gun dealer. But, the firearm was abused. Looks like the previous owner shot it till it stopped working. It came in a gun rug with one magazine and that's it. It was bone dry and filthy. Took a lot of scrubbing, lubing and over 50 patches to get it working. But, it's now finally working without any failures. I couldn't believe that anyone would ship a firearm in that condition. But, I guess this guy knew nothing about firearms and the dealer couldn't care less.

I always wanted a GI 1911. Thankfully RIA made one that I could afford. It shoots and looks great. Thinking of putting stag grips on it. But, the stock wood grips look good too.

Rock island makes pretty decent 1911s. I guess they purchased colts old equipment. 5 or 6 years ago I was buying used gi models for a couple hundred bucks and would smooth out the actions, polish things up, and replace some things with Wilson combat parts and had really nice shooting guns for less that 600.

Love my full size in 9. Shoots straight. Brownell mags no problems. Little bulky to carry but great for errthing else.

I bought a used Rock officers some years ago and never had a trouble with it, had a earlier design rock 22tcm that work amazingly but until I got a newer model it wasn't working right, Try to work it later.

Great review, sir. I'm fairly new to Rock Island armory firearms. Actually I've only have one so far. It's the 6" 52,000 series 10 mm double stack, and I'm here to tell you that thing she's like a dream. I feel like Robocop when I have it in my hands. Never had one malfunction at all. I'm a reloader, and I'm loading 200 grain XTPs at an average velocity at 12:59 ft per second. That's not even Max. The best powder to do this, in my opinion is accurate #9. Just saw Ria's new release in 2023, the 5.0 version. I couldn't be more excited about getting my hands on one of them in the near future. Anyway great video, I loved it.

Cool, in central Arkansas here! Between Benton to Little Rock and Sherwood NLR area there is plenty of firearms and ammo places stocked pretty well! 3 academy stores and Bass Pro, walmarts even on rifles and shotguns and ammo been good around here. finding better deals online sometimes on ammo! Nice looking 1911! My son recently picked up a Girsan-s 5" 45 its pretty sweet and fun to shoot! Have a good one!

I've got the combat bronze Rock Island A1-FS 1911, it is phenomenal, I've owned a few 1911's (Still have a $1,400 Colt) and my Rock Island Runs through ammo as well, if not slightly better and it was $599 brand new outta the box! Also, i did replace the stock sights (they were black on black) replaced with fiber optic green sights, but this Rock Island Armory A1-FS is one of the most accurate large caliber handguns I've had the pleasure of shooting!...Anyway, we love your channel, from here in Arvada Colorado!

Well, I love my RIA 1911 but it has an issue with the mag. Sometimes the slide locks back when there's still ammo in the mag. I've contacted the customer service and filled out the warranty claim. So far the help I've gotten from them is "Buy a new mag".

😅 yeah exactly buy a new magazine. If you don't have a quality magazine you're not going to have a quality gun. You need to have a reliable magazine. The old style are shit because the nose of the bullet would tip down too far. Spend the money on the high quality magazines. I promise you you won't regret it and you will save yourself so much aggravation. I mean I've seen people go out and get a 1911 with shitty magazines and then they say the gun fucking sucks because it doesn't work right. You need to have a quality magazine in all of your weapons that are magazine fed particularly a 1911.

I picked up my 13th 1911 the day before yesterday. All of them are the full size with the 5-in barrel. Seven of them are GI model. Six of them are Rock Island armory. There's a lot of people shitting all over Rock Island saying it's trash blah blah blah. Well those people either got a lemon or they're just hopping on the bandwagon of shit talking. Out of all my Rock Islands I've never had a failure to feed I've never had a failure to eject I've never had a stove pipe... Never had a single problem. But I also speed up the break-in. By sitting down unloading the weapon putting a shitload of lubricant on the rails and I just sit there and I slide it back and forth to help it machine itself. And I recommend all of you do the same. Whether it's a high end 1911 or a budget friendly. And enough of people talking about they're not drop safe Yes they are drop safe this is not an argument they are drop safe The 1911 is perhaps the safest handgun in the world. There are multiple safeties and if you have a series 80 there's even a firing pin block. I don't like the series 80 I prefer the series 70. Now I will say that I generally will replace all of the internal components of my 1911s with the bulletproof line from Wilson combat. Wilson combat makes a hell of a good product. Yep they can be a little expensive but it's going to be cheaper than a $3,000 1911. If you put high quality components inside of it... Well now that budget friendly gun just increased in value and you more than likely increase the longitivity of it so long as you put the pieces in correctly. And sometimes you're going to need a Dremel or a bunch of sandpaper to get a nice good fit particularly with the barrel bushing. I tell people all the time instead of going with tisas... Take another hundred or $150 and go get yourself a Rock Island armory. Hell tisas has a recall out there because apparently they've released a shitload of 1911s that are not safe at all. Which is disappointing it really is because the 1911 like I said is perhaps the safest handgun on earth and if a company has such shit quality control that they are releasing these weapons that potentially have issues... Well I would never buy one from them again. I do have a couple tisas 1911. I have fine-tuned them and done some custom work to them. And another thing when you get a 1911 the first thing you should do isn't running out there and shooting it. No. Go home take the entire gun apart I'm talking all the way down don't just do a field strip to it tear it down completely and clean everything and lubricate everything that needs to be lubricated and then properly reassemble that firearm. You'll be doing yourself a favor. Trust me on this one.
