Rock Island Line 1950's to the 70's

Rock Island had a Joint Train with the CB&Q that ran from St Louis to Minneapolis called the Zephyr Rocket. The interesting thing about this train is one day it would use all CB&Q equipment and the next day all Rock Island equipment

My parents would put my brother and me on in Joliet and we rode to Davenport by ourselves. When we were 5 and 7 years old. In the early 60s. They just told the conductor where we were to get off.

I never knew there was a Chicago-LA train called the Imperial. Learn something new every day! Not sure what I'll do with this knowledge... but its nice to know.
