I have Always Loved this Band Became even Bigger Fan they were Headlining a Show in a East Texas Town close to my Home Town I got the Absolute Honor to Hangout on their tour Bus I have these Really Good Friends Buddy Joyce Blaze Buddy RIP was a Living Legend He owned and built Custom Guitar’s and they knew a lot of Rock Star’s through the years building them The Very Best Guitar’s Buddy had me and my Best Friend that we have been to so many concerts together since we were both 15 now both 60 still going we met at the Hotel that 38 Special had stayed out the Bass Player for this Band a Legend himself Barry Dunaway my Friends Joyce and Buddy brought him a new Bass guitar we were there when he presented Barry was The Coolest Nice Guy we laughed and he let check out his new Bass then the Man The Voice of So many Awesome Songs Don Barnes and rest of Band came we all went to show On they were Perfect afterwards Buddy and Joyce originally went on tour bud My friend Joe and I stayed out talking to Keyboards Player and Guitar Plar there was a Song that actually was done by 38 Special and Don was not in Band then kinda slow song but hear it so much on radio I remember that the Keyboard Bobby Capps sang I got him mixed up with Guitar Player Danny Chauncey and I am just going to him about how Good a job singing that song well he said that would be keyboards player I thought he was anyway he laughed he said the week before his Own Father did the same thing well they came out to get us to get in tour bus Don Barnes was So Nice one of The Coolest guys Buddy had brought Don a bottle of Texas Wiskey Don played Bar tender I got to talk to him for a while I remember at the time Journey had not been in RRHOF I told Don 38 Special had so many Great Songs and couldn’t Believe they had not been inducted I told Don not even Journey was in he couldn’t Believe that Well if there was A RRHOF these Bands would be in front start I had So Much Fun I had Hoped that Donnie Van Zant would have been there Don told me he was having Health problems What a Great Band I would have made plans and not missed this !

Don Barnes is my is absolute favorite vocalist of all time. when I'm listening to music , you can bet your ass it's 38 special I'm listening to. I would like to shake Don's hand if I ever get the chance. he's a great guitar player also. stay healthy.

Shayde Bear The heart, soul and sound of this great band has always been Don Barnes vocal/guitar paired with Jeff Carlise guitar....If you believe that ANYONE else besides these two have an effect on their sound,...you are sadly mistaken.

A guy named Jim Peterik wrote a ton with these guys as well as most of survivors Hits. Awesome writer!! His hands were in so many hits back then and most have never heard of him. Man, Don Barnes rocks!! Their new touring bass player is really frickin' good as well, Barry Dunaway. These guys made me learn guitar all those years ago.
