Alan, At first, I groused at the $1299 price tag, but I was set straight by another viewer who pointed out the expensive upgrades like hard case, burstbucker pickups and improved tuners. Also, the sticker shock wore off after they dropped the Les Paul Greeny, korina flying Vs and vintage reissue Firebirds. It's a good thing that Chinese Epiphone quality control is better than typical Gibson USA :D

Well except on this specific one that had a nut cut poorly and binding on the low E string. I also didn’t mention the case was full of wood shavings that they didn’t blow out well from the inside of the body. But in general they are less prone to wild qa issues

I want Epi or someone to make a rocked-up 335 or 339 type guitar like this but with no sound holes on the body, like B.B.'s Lucille. Just a semihollow center block humbucker guitar with a solid front, but for rock. In a few more colors too, maybe 'plus top' versions. Whatever. But I bet if no sound holes was optional on semihollows a lot of people would get one that way.

@@GearGasms One of the reasons I'd like it is taking a cover off the back to work on it instead of fishing through the holes on the front. Like building a ship in a bottle you can't see through. Probably main reason I don't have a 335-type guitar yet. I wouldn't like working on it. On Lucille, problem solved. That's the option I'd like on another model of hollow guitar.

Yeah they should put a hole on the back anyway. I’d never try to work on my 339

@@GearGasms Agreed. I don't think it's a sound issue either especially playing electric, probably not acoustic. The backs on this type of guitar are moulded plywood, sides are plywood. It's mostly structural. A cavity cover in the back would not harm the sound or B.B. wouldn't have had it on Lucille.

Great video as always, Alan. I think a lot of guitar playing Grohl fans should be happy with this version. They sure are charging a lot of money for it, but they'll probably sell a lot of them, because people want to emulate their heroes. Which means they should sell this with a condom.
