It was my first exposure to her and it drew me in! That's the song that moved me and then absolutely wrecked me emotionally when I read the lyrics!

To me her songs are in the tradition of the French chansons. I always think her voice sounds like the legendary great Edith Piaf. Simply great.

Before even watching your reaction I can say; yes, lyrics on! First time I heard her, her voice alone made me FEEL, then I turned on the lyrics and she broke me. While not all the songs are as moving, there's a lot of thought and feeling behind them lyrics and this one is a favorite. I actually prefer the version she released first, the non-studio one where it's just her, a camera and her guitar, but this is still a great song with a story to tell and a message to spread! It's a lot about compassion and seeing those that are invisible and hurting... The weak warriors with broken wings are those people, and in the midst of the song she tells them to not give up

(If someone in the comments is from Japan and is around 50 years, odds are you will know who I'm talking about below...) Another comment... What she says about them possibly not wanting to die, rather not being able to live, that struck a chord (pardon the pun, not intentional) with me, because I think there's a lot of truth in that... Of course people all have their own demons and stories, but I think that might actually be closer to the truth than what's comfortable... The line about the roof railing made me tear up because it made me think of someone whose fate I've gotten drawn into lately, someone from many years ago that did just that... I stared too long into the abyss of that story and now I can't escape it, it'll always be a part of me, and strangely enough, me listening to Upiko is probably not only what made me re-discover the story but also what made me open enough emotionally to be drawn in at that time...
