..or you could just put a piece of plywood on it. Rock n Roller sells a slip-on, carpeted platform as an accessory :)

Hello Eric, I haven't looked at the handles again. It's possible to take out the play, but I think it may need a bit of re designing. I think the play is inherent in the way the stops are welded on.
