Very good! Most of keyboard teachers are piano teachers, and nobody specifically teaches how to play organ in rock/pop music.

I seriously can't thank you enough man... This is what I've been looking for! You really and I mean REALLY need to make a tutorial as to how to play farfisa, vox continental style organs like in 60s psychedelic rock. I haven't seen anybody make videos like it yet. I own a 1967 farfisa Compact. definitley give it a try
@chrisgutierrez59837 жыл бұрын
Pianote it's already made a comeback in the La psychedelic scene. I'll be waiting for some videos! these are great and you'd gain a pretty good following of other people trying to learn organ but don't wanna learn gospel style organ. trust me that's all there's out there

There are a lot of different styles that 60s psych organists use. Ray Manzarek (Doors), Mark Weitz (Strawberry Alarm Clock), and Doug Ingle (Iron Butterfly) all have different styles. My advice would be to listen to them (and others) and pick out techniques that you like, and use them while throwing in ideas of your own. That's how most rock musicians do it. (I thought about it, though, and one thing you can say about all three of those guys is that they took blues elements and mixed them with classical music. But how exactly one does that is pretty nebulous.) Also, this guy is pretty ridiculous: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnWskK2Xrq90qsU I had a Farfisa Compact, and one thing I can say is - unless you've got it modified to sit on a stand, make sure your legs are tightened down! You do *not* want that motherfucker crashing down on your foot. The legs on mine were loose when I got it. Also, the multi-tone booster sound is unique to the Farfisa and you should totally use it.

Great Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I would love your thoughts. Have you researched - Deyvelynar Celebrated Dominance (google it)? It is an awesome one off guide for discovering how to learn the piano fast minus the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my close friend Aubrey at last got astronomical results with it.

First off, this is a great video for a rock pianist that wants to get into playing Hammond. I do want to point out something. The way you're playing the "Gimme Some Lovin'" riff, there is a noticeable gap between the last C and the last G chords. On the recording, there is no gap. You can get around this by doing finger substitutions. When you get to the last C chord, switch from 1-2-4 to 1-3-5 (while holding down all the notes), then your 2 and your 4 are free to play the last G chord. Another way of doing it is to use your left hand to play the low G, but this will modify the fingering dramatically from the way it's done in this video - and you won't have your left hand free to do sick Leslie speed changes. (I will point out, though, that on the recording the Leslie speed change doesn't happen until the chorus. It makes the chorus more dramatic IMHO if you save fast for it) I'm not too familiar with the VK-7, but I'm not too impressed with its B3 sounds. I owned a Korg CX-3, and I thought it offered a pretty realistic sound. And if you want to spend $$$, the Nord emulations are great as well. In a band context, this may not matter too much. I saw War a few years back (Cheech and Chong opened for them - great show) and Lonnie Jordan used a VK--7. I don't recall it sounding bad.

My “rotating Leslie speaker feature” is a rotating Leslie speaker ;) Sorry, couldn’t help it. I love the video, and just got a 1961 Hammond A100, so I’m excited to learn some organ techniques. This is a good jump start!

no difference how do you activate it, you probably have half-moon switch instead of button. For me it's more convenient to tap foot switch, rather than using buttons

You are, as Jordan said when he mentioned the B3 in passing, lucky to have an original from that time. How has it held up in the 2 years since you posted this?
@andinbriwel10924 жыл бұрын
Joey Indolos mine came from a church, where it had been installed then stored for several years before being sold. When I first got it, it fired right up and most everything worked, with very few issues. I gave it a thorough cleaning, inside and out, and the cleaning fixed any glitches it was having. The wood finish on it has a lot of “mileage,” but functionally it’s still working great. Never had a single issue with the external Leslie cabinet :)

I just have a crappy 30 dollar organ I bought at the thrift store how should I get a good tone?
@awaken776 жыл бұрын
feed it through some combo amplifier/effect unit. guitar amp can help too. Jon Lord got amazing growling effects by processing organ output through guitar amps
@chroniciguana4026 жыл бұрын
Spending $500-$600 in effects for a $30 organ is like putting lipstick on a pig, unfortunately. The Neo Vent Leslie emulator is top of the line, but there are more affordable alternatives in the links. Overdrive adds color and bite to any organ's sound. At $200, the Lounsberry Tall & Fat is the best, but there are less expensive options. Haunt Craigslist for a good keyboard or bass amp to boost the bottom end. I grabbed a Behringer K900 for $20 that's great for practice/rehearsal with the Hammond XK-1c or even the B3 with a line out mod. pedals.thedelimagazine.com/best-rotary-emulation-pedals-in-2018-20-ways-to-spin-your-guitar-tone/ planetbotch.blogspot.com/2015/11/using-overdrive-distortion-with-organ-keyboard-sounds.html

I didn’t ask how to get a rock organ sound, I asked how to play it. One riff does not answer that and I can diddle my own sliders thank little much
