Hi guys I’ve been loving your videos! We’re planning a trip to the US next year and undecided whether to go in April/May or September/October. Two things we want to do is explore the canyons and waterfalls you guys show in your videos and also catch an NBA game or two. What would you say the general water flow/level of the waterfalls and swimming holes is like around September/october? Would most places be running dry? And is April/May warm enough to swim around California? Keep the videos coming, by far my favourite showcasing the swimming spots 👍🏼
@hikebytes6 ай бұрын
Wow thank you ! 😀😀 Well April and May sometimes can have some rain or gloom but more green hillsides and wildflower beauty . Water is colder.and more abundant . We did have a very rainy season hence the large amounts of water flow. Sept and Oct. are warm typically so water will be warmer but less in some areas . Punch Bowls and The Rock pools at Bridge to Nowhere East fork of the San Gabriel river should be flowing pretty good! Both have deep water sources.
@hikebytes6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! 😀😀you can always reach out with any questions !!
@jimmychampion696 ай бұрын
@@hikebytes thanks for the reply! So it would be safe to say that September/October would be warmer and better temperatures for swimming, whereas April/May would be better for overall flowing water around California and Arizona? Would April and May still be warm enough to swim at some of the places you have on your channel? Sorry again for the many questions 😂
@hikebytes6 ай бұрын
You could absolutely swim in Springtime but sometimes water flow could be too heavy to swim and would be more of a cold plunge . It's warmer water and calmer in Sept Oct. some smaller water falls may dry up or be a trickle . What swimholes did you want to visit?
@jimmychampion696 ай бұрын
@@hikebytes okay so maybe sept/october will be better to be able to actually enjoy the swimming, especially seeing as a few places you guys have shown have all round water sources. so far our list has a heap of places from your channel, the Canyon Narrows, Stoddard Canyon falls, Punch Bowls, Seven falls, palm springs oasis hikes, green valley, Santa Ynez and Kern River etc. as well as hopefully a few in Arizona, Wet Beaver Creek, Indian Maiden falls, and around Sedona region.

I lost my wedding ring there in the 70s about a mile upstream. My finger shrunk & my golden rose with a diamond inset fell among the rocks in the riverbed. I looked all day & never found it.

Oh no !!we are sorry to hear that! It sounds like a beautiful ring !I had a silver rose ring (not a wedding ring) with a garnet stone in the center and one day it was gone ! I have no idea how I lost it ! It's such a bummer loosing something sentimental especially your wedding ring!

Thanks for watching! Check with the San Gabriel forestry to find out where exactly the campsites are located. Make sure you have an Adventure Pass to park here . $30 for the year or $5.00 for the day. We have a link in the description as to where you can purchase these. Big 5 also sells them 😀😀

This is my Back Yard for 58 years. Not usually a SAFE place anymore...it's gotten WORSE over the Decades. ( Party people, TWEAKERS ( which are in back country beyond "Bridge to Nowhere" ) Lots of TRASH and sloppy people. Trash cans are there but the ground is easier? On Weekends you'll see 98% car/Trucks PARKED in NO PARKING but the SIgn doesn't stop them. Weekdays & More in Off Season is BEST!!! Trust Me!

We like to bring home more trash than we bring in, if everybody did the same it would get better 🙌😀 animals also get into the trash and spread it around. It’s a bummer but fixable. We need more trash cans with animal proof tops. Thanks for watching 👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks for watching 🙌 Weekends are crowed at any spot, we like week days only and start early. We have another rock pool video coming out Sunday at 11:30 am because we went again, both times were mellow crowds and had many private areas. This new vid covers the trash issue in popular areas, but shows people how to avoid crowds, to find less known spots. People watch, but not everyone goes. The river has miles of rock pools to explore, just pick a spot along the East Fork road and hike down (1/10 mile or less) and see if you like the spot, it’s that simple to find a less crowded area.
@OgHazeKiller5626 ай бұрын

Just want to remind everyone that while it's nice to swim, most of these big rock pools are man-made by people that visit. They are unfortunately bad for the habitat of animals that live in in the streams, and we really should not be building more.
