This spot will always have a special place in my heart. For a short while I was pretty much homeless sleeping in friends cars and would wake up & come down to the river in the morning. It was a rough time for me then- 18, just left an abusive household & trying to kick my drug habits. I met my best friend up & found love. That was almost 18 years ago now:)

@@eb8601 up here In Oroville 20 years ago I had my Son drive me up into the west branch of the Feather River in Feather River Canyon Hwy 70 to Quincy...to kick a habit pitched a tent across from a Bald Eagles nest stayed there for thee months till I found myself again and got clean ...one of the most memorable times in my life...I continued to struggle but finally quit cold turkey and haven't looked back...Thank God.

Exactly. How hard is it to bring extra trash bags to clean up and take away your mess??? It's a blessing to have these beautiful nature spots around us. All we need to do is enjoy the beautiful scenery and clean up when we're done. Littering is disgusting, leaves a blight on society, as well as destroys our precious resources.

I stopped going up here because of all the dirty diapers,trash ,graffiti and gang bangers who made it uncomfortable. This is a beautiful place that’s just been trashed. People put rocks across the river to form the deeper pools which due to environmental issues is illegal. Appreciate your video and telling people to keep it clean.

My local spot for 20 years too beautiful to see the source, old timers would tell me about the bonita in the river but they're all gone now, interesting to see a bonita road at the source, wonder if it's coincidence or not, lots of turtles in the river lately But yes it does get trashed at the river 😢 Local legend, shaper and the first owner of a surf shop in long Beach called rainbow bridge, ray spitzer, found a head floating in a burlap sack while waiting for a set in the 90s😅

We have biked on this road many times. We start at Cerritos Liberty Park and take the San Gabriel River Trail to Azusa Highway. Then we follow the East Fork to Glendora Mountain Road. Sometimes, we continue all the way to Crystal Lake. It's a long ride, almost 90 miles.

In the 50s, growing up in Whittier, the San Gabriels were the "mountains". First with parents and family and later with my girlfriend and our dogs we spent countless hours on the river exploring and fishing. We hardly went to the same place twice. I caught my first trout there. Saw my first rattlesnake. Back then it was almost pristine. I have only fond memories.

Really? It’s a generation issue? With that logic then maybe it’s the parent’s generation that fails at raising well behaved youth In reality, I see kids who volunteer to pick up trash and see adults who teach kids about nature and native history all of the time. Nobody is to blame. Azusa canyon has become more popular over the years and has attracted more homeless people and delinquent groups of people. It’s an unfortunate byproduct of higher public interest and low supervision no matter the decade

Omg! Thank you so much! I have lived here in the San Gabriel Valley my whole life but have never been to those spots!😯 I've been up that highway just last Summer but was very discouraged to go back because of all the trash. But I think you're right. If everyone took a bag and took some out or at least take out there own trash that would really help. I'm going to follow your directions to go there this week with my boys. I can't wait! Thanks again for taking the time to post this.😇

Did you see what happened to this spot this July 4th weekend? Thanks to videos like yours and other TikTok/Instagram videos that bring even more people up here. @@lopezexplora I appreciate your videos, but let's look at the stats here. This video showing off the rock pools has 260K views, the "Bad Side" video only has 2.6K views. Your videos will end up bringing more and more people to the spot vs. educating people about the trash. Over the next few years, this video will get even more views than it has now. You are indirectly harming this location even if that is not your intention.
@lopezexplora
@lopezexplora 5 ай бұрын
@van2810 You are absolutely right, it wasn’t my intention to cause any extra harm to this place that I love so much. However this past couple of days they actually closed the access to it and my hope is that the authorities finally put an end to this situation since it got to their attention.
