Google "rock school" - it's a music examination body in the UK based on rock and pop styles. My son's just done his Debut grade at Drums, and I was amazed to find the pieces he has to play along to are played by Deirdre, Alastair and Henry from this BBC RockSchool show from back in the day!

Man. To think I was what? Either 11 or 12 years old first time I saw one of these vids on ch. 25 wviz Cleveland, Ohio. Then I got to see most of them/ tape them on vhs, then I got the actual Rock School Book at a local mall bookstore. Don't have any of those items anymore but yeah thx to Some other folks we can watch them again on KZbin. Love It!! I became a drummer and I'm still at it!

Dierdre is a legend with her red thompson twins (Tom Bailey )inspired hair style!!! The background looks like wireframe green 3D but is probably - done with green masking tape and rulers by the BBC set department. Cheap but enough to give a futuristic look to the set.

So cheesy it's good. I recorded series 1 onto a VHS tape in my VCR with nasty fuzzy picture! I loved it. It was the only TV show I'd ever seen with Boss pedals in it! Deirdre use to have Schecter strats but in this series it's a PRS or Patrick Eggle is it? They used to look similar!

I think it's time someone made an updated series with the same format. Even better - bring back the original muso's (Deirdre, Geoff, Henry etc.) to present it! You never know - their presenting skills may have gotten better. Lol! (:o)

Outside of the synth Cameo's like Vince Clark, Jan Hammer etc, I found it rather wooden, clicheed and underwhelming for synthesists like me. Like many bands back then, they thought the keyboard player was there to provide a wacky intro to a song and bulk up the band with synth pads (often drowning out the bum notes from the guitarist who thought he was a rock God). Still. plenty of stuff for guitarists, bassists and drummers to inspire them to write rock tunes. Thanks n for reminding me why I didn't want to be in a rock band back then or now.
@pgzzz4 жыл бұрын
Also noticed she has a guitar that looks like a PRS of the future but with standard inlays. Did PRS copy someone else?😳
