Roger Taylor's problem was from 1980 onwards his song writing skills became so good he lost his solo vocal on future Queen albums from Calling all girls to Ride the wild wind and including Radio Ga Ga which are all Taylor compositions and many more besides.

Im 50 now and from the UK - I remember avidly watching this - god I must have been 9 or 10 - and was and still am massively into music. However, when you look back at this you just realise real high end worldwide god given talent. Ive been playing piano drums and singing for 40 odd years - the one thing I find between UK and US - is US had the gospel background and piano players learned all the minor tenth and major tenth stuff - something that wasn't really done in the UK. And James Ingram David Pack and Michael McDonald just off the cuff like that - messing about and just singing live without reverb or anything - its astoundingly good -

Rogers music videos is kinda weird. But although he has a lot of imagination :) Turn things on and sitting down and pushing a chair away aggressively, lol. He is a quite good musician. Love him! His quite kind and nice to other and write amazing songs. His a very good drummer and singer too. He was an important member of Queen.

Dierdre is a legend with her red thompson twins (Tom Bailey )inspired hair style!!! The background looks like wireframe green 3D but is probably - done with green masking tape and rulers by the BBC set department. Cheap but enough to give a futuristic look to the set.

Man. To think I was what? Either 11 or 12 years old first time I saw one of these vids on ch. 25 wviz Cleveland, Ohio. Then I got to see most of them/ tape them on vhs, then I got the actual Rock School Book at a local mall bookstore. Don't have any of those items anymore but yeah thx to Some other folks we can watch them again on KZbin. Love It!! I became a drummer and I'm still at it!

Roger is being unusually polite here. He is clearly aware that he is on live breakfast TV and speaking to a proper gentleman who clearly admires Queen for their ... works.

What a friggin half hearted doped up interview on the part of TV AM. Jeez, what shit dozy questioning. Showing guests a bit of, just a little bit of respect by demonstrating some interest in the material which in this case was a bloody good tune that deserved some airplay in the UK but got sod all on the radio, (story of RT's blighted career here,) - they played it a handful of times on a rock station in South Africa and it became a proper hit there. Fair play for playing a snippet here but honestly, asking him about dentistry, crap interviewing.

A couple shows later Ian Paice played paradiddles between the ride and snare "and it kinda sounds like a freight train", and what was left of my brain expanded.

As a young drummer for some reason seeing Bill Bruford root the snare to the bass pad and vice versa blew my 14 yr old mind. I loved this show!

'We are rounding off with more of the hit that you hope will go to No1 this week...' And would have had high profile Queen fan (oh the irony!) and Radio 1 DJ Mike Smith not refused to play Relax by FGTH, the only song close to Radio GaGa's sales because he deemed it obscene thus rapidly stoking it's infamy and what happens when an adult tells the kids they shouldn't be listening to something....? Well done Mike! :-o Inadvertently blew Roger Taylor's first chance of a UK Number 1 though I guess he consoled himself in the knowledge it sat at the top spot in 19 other countries. Kerching!

A few episodes of the show cropped up in the early 1980s on my local PBS station. It was absolutely fascinating and little. Did I know how this stuff would go on to shape my life as a musician and a music teacher?

Deirdre was great, but rock and blues styles always let her down. She was a great funk/soul player and her improvised comping was brilliant... But blues and rock? Sadly no.
