When my daughter was 10 years old her fiddle group from Canada went on “tour” to Scotland. They were so very warmly and when they had played everything in their set they stood there not quite knowing what to do next. So they played Scotland the Brave. The audience went wild, their teacher cried and my daughter said “Mum, I have never heard such loud clapping.” Every kid on that stage could have sprouted wings to soar at that very moment. None of them (or their parents) will ever forget that moment. The Scottish people were so generous and welcoming and happy to share a wee bit of their culture with a group of elementary school kids. It was awesome!

@Roy Dunn You can watch my KZbin channel. Scots play the Great Highland Pipes. The player of the bagpipes plays the pipes in a standing position by blowing into the mouthpiece. This type of bagpipe is generally played in Scotland. This type of bagpipe is usually played outdoors due to their loud, somewhat high-pitched sound. Uilleann (Irish) pipes are made up of a bag, bellows, chanter, three drones, and three regulators. The player of these pipes is seated when playing. The elbow is used to pump air into the billows. These pipes are usually played indoors. They have a quieter, softer sound than other bagpipes.

This is fantastic! Well done guys. We Scots are extremely proud of our heritage and our beautiful country. If you’ve never been to Scotland please come, when it’s safe to do so obviously. You won’t be disappointed. It’s a gorgeous country steeped in history; heritage; amazing landscapes; friendly people and... whisky! And so much more besides.

I’m from the Scottish highlands and grew up playing the pipes. I’m 44 now and my kids have grown up and left home but when I hear massed pipes and drums I feel like a kid again when I first saw such an event. I’m so proud to be Scottish and I think most Scots feel the same way especially when we hear the pipe band.

@tammywilmot91623 жыл бұрын
@@stringer-ik1pc That's not entirely true. Pictures of primitive bagpipes were found on Egyptian coins dating back to 1000 BC. Historians believe it was the Romans that introduced bagpipes to the world. When Caesar first invaded Britain, he blew pipes that produced such an odd sound, it spooked the Celts horses, giving the Romans the victory in that battle. The first recorded use of bagpipes happened at the Battle of the North Inch in Scotland between 2 clans in 1396.
