Hello Thomas - I count it as a highlight in my life that I spent some time (too short) in Malta seven years ago. Went everywhere, met people, in a low- key sort of way, ate the local fare, saw everything, I was in heaven. I had wanted to go to Malta forever, and I was not disappointed in any way. Your country still calls to me. Its history is more, just more, in all ways than any other. I am proud to be an American, but Malta does call to me.

When I was a marine serving in Arbroath, one of the chefs working in the mess was a fantastic pastry chef , but unknown to us in Burns night he appeared in his full uniform, playing the pipes , he was a retired Sargent from the black watch , never to be forgotten, raised the hackles on the back of your neck . @@anthonyferris8912 That may be true, but I don't think there will be any refusal under the right conditions. I don't think NATO matters as much as many people think in terms of our peoples uniting in defense of our homes and families. Reciprocation cannot happen without someone starting the ball rolling...and we won't fail to help unless some fool "leader" stops us. Imho, there are far too many Irish-American families with strong ties to Ireland for your attitude to hold sway overall.

Bloody marvellous! My mum was a Scot and I inherited a love for Scotland and the skirl of the pipes. Many years ago I lived in the adelaide hills in Australia. Every week on a Sunday evening one of my neighbours played his bagpipes. It echoed thru our valley and brought tears to my eyes as I thought of mum listening to. 🦋🇦🇺

In the Netherlands they like the bag pipes performing at the remembrance services for the fallen (especially WW2). My mom explained she had experienced them honouring the resistance in our province of Drenthe. Liberated by the Canadians, French and Polish. Lest we forget

You forgot to mention that part.

My late father served for the kings army as a captain. He was selected to call the marching regiment to order. I hear him” by the left! Quick march!” My hero, I’m 68 yrs this month. Looking forward to seeing you again Dad.❤

I know I have English, Irish ancestry, as well as from the British Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey. I have yet to find evidence of Scottish heritage, but damned, it must be there in my blood ;)

New Yorker here - I was only half-paying attention, waiting for the music to begin, then saw US Navy uniforms. THAT got my attention... What? Us Yanks here? Awesome ! Funny how we've fought against the Brits twice, with them more times than we can count, and they're still some of our best friends.... One of my best personal friends is a transplanted Brit. Love how we're not actually part of the UK, but we're all mixed right in anyway.
