Neat lesson. I've been taken with the double bass recebtly hence my latest uploads, but im a long time electric player and can play pretty well on that instrument. Double bass is certainly a different but challenging and fun beast.

Why does my string buzz when I try this :o
@BamboozleHQ9 ай бұрын
There could be a few reasons for this. How long have you been playing bass? It could the the set up needs looking at as the strings are catching on something, it could be the action is too high or it could be that you may still need to develop left hand finger strength, as it does buzz if not pressed down hard enough. I hope this helps!
@qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm7149 ай бұрын

It might be an optical illusion, but your bridge looks shifted way towards the treble side? Looks more comfortable for your palm though. Is that for sound & setup, or just an illusion?

Will these techniques work on a upright electric stick bass , I can get one of those for about $1000, the cheapest hybrid that I can find is $2800 . The string shops in this area don't want to bother with a laminated bass can't make enough profit on that.
@BamboozleHQ3 жыл бұрын
They can work, but I know from a couple of others that its more difficult and the slap sound doesn't sound great, but if its all you can get, its still something you can use to practice on for sure. Its always important to get the strings set up well for slap style, not too high but enough to be able to just hook the string. I'd recommend looking online for basses before deciding though, mine was from Finland and only £1400 for a laminate, delivered. It might be a better option! Thomann are a great place to shop, but maybe somewhere not overseas would have better prices with shipping.

@@BamboozleHQthat an unusual looking bass, I was curious what it is. If you put a little rosin or chalk on the bottom of the bridge feet, it can help keep the bridge from sliding around.
@BamboozleHQ4 күн бұрын
It’s actually a Strunal, but a custom one from Finland! Ah, the bridge is generally fine… I have young kids who decided to fall on it before the video before telling me 🤣 dangers of the game 🤦♀️ The rosin idea is pretty good though!

The setup on this bass is all messed up. The bridge is pushed off to the side. The strings are not spaced evenly on the bridge. Doesn’t affect her playing and the lesson is good. I’m a luthier and we notice details like this. What kind of strings do you like? I’ve got some clients that play with old style setup, unwound gut strings, it’s an expensive habit.
