The preacher in the beginning are Jimmie Rodgers Snow son of Country singer Hank Snow. He Toured with Elvis in 1955 and recorded a Rockabilly record for RCA in 1956.

I'm not sure they're claiming to be from the South, they're singing about music from the South. On the other hand Levi is from Southend on Sea which definitely is in the South.

i think its like saying that the confederate flag represented the southern rebellion obviously, and rockabilly was originally southern music that rebeled against the mainstream music of the time. So figuratively speaking, rockabilly was also a southern rebellion. thats my opinion though.
