Man! '79? Those were the friggin' disco years. And punk was still young. How did these kats find their niche? I guess cool was alive and well back then. Oh, I forgot Happy Days was on t.v. at the time too(and Shanana!).

i think its like saying that the confederate flag represented the southern rebellion obviously, and rockabilly was originally southern music that rebeled against the mainstream music of the time. So figuratively speaking, rockabilly was also a southern rebellion. thats my opinion though.

It's because they were. Yes, the civil war was not started over slavery. Yes, Lincoln was a butcher. But the south tried to bisect the country - an action which would have destroyed it.

Jesus would have rocked to rockabilly. :) However, Jimi would have taken that bass violin and done cruel and unusual things to it generations would whisper frightened tales of for centuries afterward. IMO.

@BrickLaneBetty Please lets put the flag in context. Yes It has been hijacked with many bad connotations from times of the pass. But to be ashamed to show old music clips to be PC when we have a Black President? Please lets enjoy the music and be glad we as a country have moved forward so much.
