First review on the 50th anniversary on the net, Thankyou. I get mine in about 3 weeks. Matching the original should how it should have been. Some want anime accurate but I was in love with the 80s toy. Can't wait. SOC voltron is the original and the best. They introduced the modern standard. All others were simply copies with gimmicks imo. Cheers

Preorders were filled up when I heard about this figure, but was able to get one yesterday. very nice looking one.

Thank you for the review. You should really have a solid color backdrop so you can actually see the figures. Visually it looks too messy with everything going on in the background.

Since the yen is down, this is actually the cheapest of these I have bought since the original 2016 release. Original retail ran around US$300 for the 2016. When they released him a couple of years ago with the blue label he shot up by US$50 to around US$350. Just received mine after finalizing my pre-order payment from Amiami. Right at about $300 shipped and no tax after the PayPal conversion rate. And I’m seeing eBay listings for only about US$20 more pop up.

Actually, I think robot mode Voltron looks better and has better proportions if you EXTEND the waist and collapse it in lion mode, just like in Robot mode you would want to extend the Green and Red lions for the elbows. I have the original GX-71 and this is what I've found out handling Voltron myself.

Thank you for the outstanding review. I was wondering if you would consider doing a Part 2 review to this, showing each of the sets in full combined Voltron mode so we can all truly see the biggest differences between them. Personally, the original version (original release) is more accurate. The 50th Anniversary edition is more flashy with the chrome and the full waist piece section being all black. But going back to the cartoon, the original version seems more true to form. I own the Blitzway Voltron, which is the definitive piece for all Voltron collectors. But these Bandai SOC sets are always high-level as well. Thanks again for considering!

GoLion is true anime, very pure. Voltron is the animation cells, and Americanization of the content, so dramatically different. It's an insult to GoLion to call Voltron and GoLion the same.

sweet! mine is on the way! I own 3 of the regular GX-71 and now this. Can't wait! If you are speaking of the Blitzway Voltron that cost $700, well, that's in a different league. Is it worth the money? for some, yes. I own one and think it's the definitive Voltron. I was hoping Bandai did a DX version for the 50th anniversary to compete with the Blitzway but they went this route. No complaints though. I really like this release. Call back to the original Popy Golion. I do wish they did the vintage packaging for this. That would have been cool.

Ah yes Blitzway! I had an online mate that got it but had a lot of defects so had to return it... in the end they just got the chogokin one. I think Blitzway also did a Netflix version which I was keen on but the price... especially if importing to Japan :/

What is the difference of this one and the ones thats been releases 6 or 7 years ago.

I pointed out the differences throughout the video but the main ones are the hips (lower part of the black lion) being black, and the sides of the lions having a chrome finish.

@@Rockchala_YT Thank you for that. I saw this figure yesterday and it's the same price as Dairugger XV, I already have the previous SOC Golion so I'm thinking of either getting this one or Dairugger.

Really cool coincidentally I have the Bandai SMP Voltron model kit! but honestly I'm more a Great Mazinger fan!

Those SMP kits are really good aye. My mate had a few of them and for the price they pack a punch.

Canceled mine i figured not worth the double since the difference wouldn't be much and chrome parts will be easier to scratch because bandai doesn't add quality chrome.
