This was the album that got me into Linkin Park. I had heard Crawling previously but I didn't know who the band was at that point. Then Meteora was released. I got my hands on it (I think I stole it from my older brother to be honest) and listened to it on repeat.

The only reason I can write here in English is because of those guys. I literally learned English because I wanted to know what they were singing about and just like you, I like Meteora more than Hybrid Theory. As in HT I think they were free to create and explore more, I see Meteora, although more contained album, as a more focused CD. Apart maybe from Nobody's Listening, none of the other songs feel dislocated (IN MY OPINION). The main criticism about Meteora is that it sounds like a copy version of HT, and IT IS, the band itself have already admitted that before, however that doesn't take away the fact the album repeats the successful part of the formula, and minimizes the mistakes. My only wish is that, even though I'm a huge fan of the M2M and followers, I just wish they had released a third album with that same vibe. No other band had the same impact those guys had on me and I know this is something simple as music, and they probably I'll never read this, I'll be forever thankful to them because I still remember the first time I've heard their songs and it's a just like Christmas' Eve for me.

I think my problem with Hybrid Theory is that, in hindsight, much of that album comes across as to juvinile for its own good. Song like Crawling and One Step Closer are unfortunately why LP has such a bad rep to the average person until Chester passed. I think Meteora is all the good of Hybrid Theory without any of the bad.

"From the Inside" is my favorite Linkin Park song. I don't know who to trust and I'm not surprised. 20 years later, I still don't trust anyone. Unwilling trust someone not to hurt me like I've been hurt in the past, I derailed my social life. I was social distancing before they started making us practice it. I know I'll spend my life alone but at least I know I'll never get hurt again. Am I ashamed I can't trust someone to spend their life with me? Yeah, and I'm taking that to my grave. I'm feeling pretty numb about a lot of things, and I'm happy to feel numb. Still my favorite verse, was "Against my will I stand by my own reflection It's haunting How I can't seem to find myself again. My walls are closing in."

Even as my music tastes have moved to “objectively” better bands like Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and Deftones, Meteora still remains my favorite album of all time. It was my gateway to rock music and I owe a lot of my music taste to that album.
@jaddaman4 жыл бұрын
Meteora is my favorite Linkin Park album, and one of my Top 4 albums of all time. Every song is a valuable diamond that creates a beautiful tapestry of an album. Numb has been my favorite song by them right there with New Divide, Faint is a metalhead's moshing fuel, Somewhere I Belong is a fun tune that never gets old, but every song here has a great meaning and help truly define the band as the creative genius juggernauts that they are. Hybrid Theory ripped down the walls for the band to make their way through, but Meteora reconstructed those walls into their own path that I feel many others have tried to follow to this day. This was a great celebration of music, and I'm glad to know another fellow LP fan with the same favorite LP album! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

So my biggest Linkin park memory? I was going through a tough time, grieving over my mother's death, one of my sister's had kicked me out of home, i was jobless and didn't know what to do with my life. I had taken a walk and "waiting for the end" came over the radio. And somehow, the song captured everything that I was feeling. So much so, that i can't listen to it without thinking about what I was going through. I still love the song, it helped me Express everything when i couldn't.
@princealigorna74684 жыл бұрын
Is it blasphemy that I actually think Meteora is a slightly better album than Hybrid Theory? Like, Hybrid Theory is an important album for finding that sweet spot in the nu-metal formula where it was just metallic enough, but just poppy enough, but with legitimate rap credentials, that it could find that ground to be all things to all people. But I find the songwriting and experimentation on Meteora so much more diverse. The metal parts are still plenty metal, but hip-hop is even more pronounced, and you get songs on here that are so weird (Breaking the Habit) that they could have never worked on Hybrid Theory. At all. But are still quintessential Linkin Park. Or that I love the liner notes? Like, I know that's such a small thing, but I love it when bands add notes describing the recording, writing, or meaning behind the songs. I love it with Behemoth's albums. I loved it with Celtic Frost's Monotheist album, and I loved it here.
@metallikat054 жыл бұрын
Meteora was the last time Linkin Park was Linkin Park. It’s so damn good, I felt ripped off when they changed from the alternative style they perfected here to plain rock on Minutes to Midnight. What a waste.

This is coming from someone who was a freshman in high school when Hybrid theory came out. Omg, what a dreadful, wish I could erase from my memory time of my life. I was deep in an opiod addiction, served a 3 month jail sentence for "bad decisions", which chain reaction caused me to lose custody of my children. Then I was released, the first CD I bought was Meteora, and I would listen to this the entire one hour bus ride to and from all my outpatient classes. I would listen to this falling asleep at night, I had to buy 3 CDs as I literally wore this album out. Meteora was part of my getting sober era, the lack of mental clarity, coupled with physical withdrawal, all while couch surfing from family member to friends because I was virtually homeless. I was screaming on the inside, I hated and loathed myself. I remember"Easier to Run" "Breaking the habit", actually every single song on this album would resonate why I can't say F--k it. I was 28. Just listening to samples now is so powerful, goose bump crazy good. Amazing how music is so emotionally connected in us, even though the worst time of my life, I can reflect listening to Meteora with nothing but gratitude that I survived.

My journey with Linkin Park and how I became a fan is interesting, because at first I was not a fan of them at all. In fact I outright couldn’t stand them at first. Something about their music at the time just didn’t click with me and I don’t know exactly what it was. Then one day I saw a tribute video on KZbin on the 2006-07 Atlanta Thrashers as that was their only successful season as a franchise (god I miss the Thrashers). At first I didn’t know what song was playing in the background but I ended up loving it a lot. Then I saw in the KZbin description that it was Somewhere I Belong by Linkin Park. When I saw that it was them, a band that I just couldn’t stand at the time, my mouth dropped and I was amazed at what I originally wasn’t paying attention to, the lyrical content and Chester’s dynamic vocals. Eventually I would hear more songs and the ones I ended up connecting with the most for the most part were on Meteora and mind you this was during the Minutes To Midnight album cycle. Now I love Linkin Park and have loved them ever since late 2007-early 2008. They are one of my top 10 favorite bands of all time and Meteora is not only my favorite Linkin Park album, but one of my all time favorite albums period.

I gotta say, i find Hybrid Theory and Meteora quite equally good. But "From the Inside" is the highlight for me here. That song with the piano melodies in the verses, back-and-forth vocals from Chester and Mike, very catchy chorus and heavy breakdown make it the definitive old school Linkin Park song in my mind. In fact, the three songs in a row From the Inside - Nobody's Listening - Session is the best part of the album.
@memyopinionsche66104 жыл бұрын
Yeah.... there's a really big gray area concerning LINKIN PARK and SOUNDGARDEN. Two great bands who lost great Singers do to suicide. How do you recover from that scenario. I mean I could bring up ALICE IN CHAINS. And the tragic loss of Layne Staley.. And Jerry Cantrell moved on a found a singer who can produce Layne Staley vocal range. And doing a good job at it. RAINIER FOG was a good album. And the singer did a bang up job. And it's pretty good as a ALICE IN CHAINS ALBUM. BUT REPLACING CHRIS CORNELL OR CHESTER BENNINGTON. IN LINKIN PARK OR SOUNDGARDEN. I have no idea. But if the surviving members of both bands. Want to continue. I would like to think. Come up with a new names like SUPERUNKNOWN or HYBRID THEORY. And respecting their past music but coming up with something new. And a change. I mean like for instance STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. Got a good singer. But what's his name? Point proven. Only time will tell what will happen. And how both bands will rebuilt from the ashes.

I also like Meteora more because it‘s more aggressive and powerful. And also because it doesn‘t have a song like „crawling“. That song to me is Linkin Park‘s version of „Untitled“.

Been waiting for this one. Easily my favorite LP album. RIP Chester.

I agree that Meteora was more refined and stronger in ways but that also makes Hybrid Theory better in ways. I’ve always felt like the songs on HT were more creative. They almost went too perfect on Meteora. That being said, it’s still my second favorite album of all time after HT. There are no filler songs on either one of these albums. I never want to skip a song on on HT, and although I don’t think any songs on Meteora are filler, I do find myself wanting to skip Faint to get to Figure.09. 🤷♂️ All my favorites seem to not follow the track of the singles, besides Somewhere I Belong and Crawling. Also Crawling is just as timeless and better than Numb. Lol. Just my opinion. Great video though. Great to see a masterpiece get its due admiration.

I blame Linkin Park for my taste in music

I guess a "reggae Linkin Park" would have just sounded way too much like 311 (a band they probably did take a few notes from)

I still love this album.

You said it best, man. Meteora was more solid and refined. Seeing you go over it, it did have a bunch of sounds that allowed for experimentation like "Nobody's Listening."

The Hunting Party was Linkin Park's third best album, but y'all are not ready for this conversation.

Here I am being invited by people to church dance parties and the DJ is always denying my request of Dance Macabre

I was in Iraq when this CD arrived in a care package. I probably listened to this album every day for the last 7 months I was there.

Have you seen Mike Shinodas Twitch streams? There's a new album coming which he made with us (wombats).

I love this album so many good songs my brother bought meteora back in 06 when I heard it could not get enough of it happy to know I'm not alone in this

Your videos could introduce albums to new fans (not me I've been a lp fan from the start) and record co. should ki$$ ass & think you.

They could pull off continuing without Chester but I just don’t think it would ever come close to being the same, Chester was just such a huge talent that replacing him would be hard on top of it not being fair to make anyone try to fill his shoes. Maybe his son if he wanted too but either way it’s an extremely tricky thing.

I clicked it after watching another unrelated channel First time wacther and I find another Fanboy of Linkin Park Meteora. I think I should bring it back on the next road trip with my bro

Eh.... Meteora and Hybrid Theory are pretty much equal in terms of quality to me.
