Probably "Invisible Kid" by Metallica off their St. Anger album. Granted, a lot of the songs off that album don't really have a lot of replay value. But that song to me is by far the worst thing off that album. It's not catchy, music wise, the guitar sounds terribly out of tune, and most shocking of all, the vocals and lyrics are far below the standards that James Hetfield has set for himself over the course of his career. He just sounds weak and uninspired throughout this entire song, which feels like it's about 6 minutes too long to begin with. Really, it should have been left on the cutting room floor, as far as I'm concerned...

@SciFyerGaming great take on that song. like most PJ songs there can be multiple meanings and what it means to us, what it means to Eddie Vedder or the other band members, and what Eddie Vedder says it means to the media, are all different things and can still all be true. Eddie said he had terrible poison ivy at the time and was itching out of his skin and that's why he wrote that song. he got the accordion at a second hand store and was messing around with it. he said he would play that song for people, tell them (with a straight face) it was their next single, and he thought it was the best thing they'd ever done. he talked about it in an interview and he thought it was pretty damn funny. could it also be about his anxiety from fame, being hounded by the media, and being stalked by crazy fans, sure.
@jennanevara58714 жыл бұрын
Two interesting notes: 1. R.E.M.'s intent with Shiny Happy People was supposed to be satire of something that happened in China, where they covered a violent bombing with murals of "shiny happy people". Obviously the satire failed and it became a cheesy as hell song. 2. No one except Axl knew of My World's existence when recorded. Axl made it all by himself two weeks before the album released. The band didn't even know it existed until after the album came out.

When the album came out, I played it for my friend Vicki, and she said "He's just being silly, isn't he?". That's a good way to describe My World. The song isn't bad, it's just silly. When he did the Charles Manson cover? THAT WAS BAD.
@SavageGreywolf4 жыл бұрын
The story about Shiny Happy People being about China censoring news of a terrorist bombing, or the Tiananmen Square Massacre is an urban legend. The band has never said that was the case and Michael Stipe explicitly said the opposite, that it was unironically a happy pop song and that he hates it. R.E.M. fans really want that song to secretly not be twee trash. sorry folks.

Honestly, All in the Family is very on brand, but poorly executed. I feel there was bit of making fun of the underground rap battle culture (which this clearly was), and JDs lyrics were often offensive. Think of Clown, Daddy, and Fagit. Hell, ADIDAS. Though, to be fair, ADIDAS could also be on this list and it would be difficult to argue his reasons, and I do believe it might be their shame song, I know it's Head's shame song. And to be even more fair, Daddy wasnt offensive to be shocking, or to develop a musical style, although it did both. Daddy, imo, will remain their opus. Despite being a difficult listen lyrically, the song is genius, and is important to those who suffered a similar abuse to know they are not alone. Well, I guess that was an unneeded tangent. So I always accociate the song with a tinge of irony, or general "wrongness", which makes it play differently

I guess I'd rather have a song be "racist" and "homophobic" than a song that was originally made by Charles fucking Manson of all people. I know "One In A Million" was omitted from their overpriced box set but really, I think that was the pinnacle of their career to be so big that they didn't give a fuck about offending an entire generation of people who witnessed the Manson killings.

@@jakobsanchez738 I actually understand what Axl was going for with that and I think he was trying to just be non-PC, and say it in the most offensive way possible. Well, it worked. Lol and there's a big difference between being non PC and just being completely and over the top unabashedly rude. I think he was trying to be edgy and took it too far and it turned out just being really repulsive in every way possible lol.

Say what you want about “One in a Million”, but at least it still has decent instrumentation. The only thing awful about that song are the lyrics, but Izzy Stradlin and Slash are still awesome. My World is awful from every angle, it’s not good electronic music, Axl Rose is an awful rapper, and the lyrics are way worse in my opinion. One in a Million is offensive and tasteless, but they say horrible shit like that all the time. I’m not even sure One in a Million has even the worst lyrics, Get in the Ring, It’s so Easy, and Back Off Bitch are pretty repulsive. My World is the worst because it doesn’t even have decent music.

As a diehard fan of both eras of Genesis, I think that their self-titled album is really good; songs like "Mama", the "Home by the Sea" suite, and "Just a Job to Do" are among the best of the Phil Collins era. It's a shame that "Illegal Alien" is also on it. That song alone is what keeps me from calling the album a masterpiece.

Dude I knew it was gonna be pink cellphone just from the thumbnail. I’m subscribed to a Deftones group on Facebook, (mainly because some people might get an album or new track update before I hear about it and they go wild posting the same stuff over and over again) and several times a week someone posts the vulgar lyrics in the song as a joke to see how many people will comment with the rest of the lyrics. Gets annoying after awhile. The funny thing is that the original release had the song end before the dirty part. That version was released soon after on a deluxe edition.
