Still cannot believe how short this riding season was! On average we will do somewhere between 1500 and 3500 miles in a winter season. At the end you will see how abysmal this 2024 ride season was! This footage was taken on Feb 26th 2024, the following day the little snow on lake was melted off and within a week ALL the remaining snow was gone pretty much. Gonna be a long summer!

Thanks so much Jim! The winter was so short, and I had so much I wanted to do for video content this winter, and then winter was a bust! I feel like I need to come up with some summer content, but my work is not exciting enough..LOL So much for the channel growing with sledding and winters dwindling every year..ugh! Cheers brother and thanks again!

Awesome vid Dan thanks. I did 2500km on my Comp this winter, but I didn't go far. Chasing my tail really. I rode our local trails all winter. Let's hope next season is better! Have a great summer.

About the most boring video i ever made, LOL. But one last ride and such a short winter I really wanted to put something up at least. Sad Sad winter! Nice to see you got 2500km on! There were a few times I wanted to come over your way, i really should have! I think you guys had open trails the longest overall in entire province pretty much. Next year i will get over that way for sure regardless of weather. How is the Comp working for ya? I haven't heard a ton about them overall but really wondered how they work side by side to the 900r. Cheers brother!

@rockerdan Any sled content out there is good, Dan. I liked the tour of your Lake. Looks like a beauty area and spot you have. Yes, you should have come over. The trails were pretty good considering. Luckily we have a lot of forest access roads this way, and we don't need as much snow as over by you to get rolling. But wow we had a ton of traffic. Comp is my favorite Doo so far. Doo nailed this one. Much lighter steering and more playfull than our Machs. The last weekend we road we got out the Mach, Boost and Comp and had a head to head. Traction being equal they are all pretty much dead even. The best I have seen from my Mach and Comp are 119 GPS. Not bad from a modern suspended sled. Our old triples still go by though lol!! Still nothing better than sledding!

@@jasonfreake9020 I think that was why I made this(lame) video! It was such a bad season and i really was not able to make many videos at all this season, so i figured what the heck may as well have at least something to end my ride season with. Better then no video at all. LOL. I hear ya, the lakes around the area here are similar to your area. Super gorgeous areas to ride and its never lost on me how lucky I am to be able to spend so much time in Muskoka riding, and summers are incredible too! I wish we had more access roads on our trails but most(especially my local HGR club) are bush trails which do take a ton of snow and work to get into shape, they are awesome when good but with low snow they are hard to even get open. The other thing i always take note of when driving eastward through the park is the rise in elevation. I sit around 1000ft at my lake but heading east it rises closer to 1600ft i notice and that difference makes many of our "mixed rain" snowfalls be pure snowfalls. And less melting with slightly lower temps too. I will definitely be sure to get over your was next season. The one ride we did on the family day weekend video around Dwight/Dorset area, i had planned to head to Whitney that morning but when we woke up we were getting pounded with heavy snow all day so we ended up having great trails locally. Ahh thanks so much for top speed info! I was really wondering how the 850r turbo would work! I had heard the Poo Boost was faster on top a couple times, and wondered how our Machs would do. I have rode Danos 850NA G5 MxZ 129 and man that thing is nice, the 2s is so flickable and light in the nose and that instant "snap" of the throttle makes it so playful, there really is nothing like the 2s snap! The 900r 4s is a really nice unit overall, but that instant snap is just different, i find the mach more fun and pulls hard once you are running down trail about 30+ and whack it, but not as fun down at very bottom. I do like it much better then my Winder(stock for stock) as the Winder was even less snappy down at bottom, but the winder got cured bigtime with a tune and made it super snappy. Overall I think the Mach(or any 900r) may be the best overall "long term" sled to own. I used to say my Apex was and i kept my Apex like 7 seasons, and yet that sled had several issues that i needed to take care of for longevity. With these 900r Doos they seem to be really solid, and we certainly aren't very easy on them! lol. Have a great summer brother. Cheers!

Sorry to hear you didn't get to ride much either. I'm in the same boat!! On my first trip up northern Maine, I put on a bit less that 300 miles. When we got home, I noticed that my truck (F150 with 76k miles) was rapping pretty loudly. It's deeper than the valve train and have been fighting with Ford ever since. That was the end of my snowmobile season!! Pretty sad as I usually put on about 2500 miles.

Ahh total bummer brother! I totally get it, nothing worse then big repair costs that were not expected! My truck is at 67k miles now and I usually try to get rid of them around now, but the cost of trucks is sorta like sleds, things are just nuts. This will be one winter I just want to forget altogether! Cheers!

Our snow and trails were all done a week prior to this day(26th feb) which was not normal. And when we got this 1.5 inches of fluff i woke up and knew I had to get out on lake ice for one last rip, as later that day the sun would melt it all off and this would be the last rip of season. Boring video but wanted something for channel before LONG SUMMER! The Garmin Drivesmart 66 GPS mounted on riser works well, but with TraKmaps no longer selling/updating SD trail cards anymore, I wanted a live trail mapping setup. So this season I added the iPad mini setup, using trail APPS for live updates. See this video for that setup: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXjal3iJi5KlnpYfeature=shared Cheers!

0 miles for us this season in Wisconsin. That's a first for us. West a horrible year.

The Dells area was open for a short time as most of the storms were going south this winter. Big temperature swings didn't help either..not to mention the negative impact on businesses that rely on sledding through the winter.

@sleddingfarmer8692 that sucks brother! We werent far behind with our winter locally in Ontario. If it wasn't for lake effect snow we did get we would have had zero riding too. Will be a long summer wait now! Cheers!

The El-Nino this winter kicked in bigtime at least twice, it was when those atmospheric rivers in Cali were on the news...they would encompass the entire lower 48 into the NE and bring massive mild temps way northward where they normally dont reach in winter....and now El nino will be winding down it looks like which will likely bring a colder spring which will suck. Man these patterns really screwed is this year!

@rockerdan We can usually rely on the upper peninsula of Michigan getting good lake effect but they nearly got completely skunked this year too. Oh well. I guess all our sleds just last another year. It's my buddies fault. After last winter he went out and bought a compact tractor with a heated cab and snowblower... I'm definitely blaming him.

@@sleddingfarmer8692 LOL too funny! I agree with the savings part, It is nice to see how much money i didn't spend on riding, and the sled parts ect....I have a brand new belt and carbides still in package that i never had time to put on, and dont even think Im gonna change my oil or chaincase since its so fresh still! LOL. So not riding much has at east some advantages. Definitely will be keeping the old girl another season. Cheers!

Hey Chris, Yeah what a short season it was. I had us booked for Mt. Laurier as well for the Qc. free trail pass weekend like so many others, but at the last minute i cancelled when i saw the conditions guide showing some closed trails near town, and the hotel told us the trails were dirt and most everyone was cancelling. I just assumed we would have plenty of more winter and better riding conditions after that. But man i kick myself later as the winter never really got much better. I saw many guys went that weekend at looked darn nice, so i really regret cancelling that! Yeah im a tech nerd with the GPS stuff. LOL. In Ontario TraKmaps stopped selling/updating their SD cards for the OFSC trails on the Garmin GPS. So my SD card will no longer be updated on my Garmin. I still love the Garmin alot so i will always keep that(top speed/elevation ect), but wanted a connected trail mapping setup so I could see any trail changes in mapping along with live conditions updates. Using an APP for these live updates for me was a way to get live mapping, and I had been using the BRP GO and Go Snowmobiling Ontario APP for awhile on my phone already. So I wanted to try to get a bigger screen for these APPS, and decided to try to use my iPad Mini on the Glove Box Extension. In the end, i really love it and it worked flawlessly! Definitely check out my video where i talk all about the iPad mini install here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXjal3iJi5KlnpYfeature=shared Cheers!

Hey Keith, that sounds really good for this winter! We are used to doing 2500mi to 3500mi in a winter most years. Last winter was my lowest if I recall around 1500 only which i thought was really low, but this winter just was so bad i was shocked. Never have we seen such warmups that melt most all our snow, and lake ice came so late, just a bummer overall. Are you located more east? I saw most the east sections of Qc this year did well overall especially when compared to us for snow. How do you like the 850 Turbo R??? Cheers!
