I personally think that song starting at 9:33 goes good with that cloud cover. And possibly the next song that plays afterwards goes good with the clouds going away. 🎶 ☁️🌫 🛣

Boy that was a low cloud when you hit Richmond at the 11:45 mark of the video. Enjoyed to ride along I-80

That is the local marine layer for you! It can stretch across the Bay, sometimes Inland. You'll see more of it towards the end of the video in San Francisco, and it affected my drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. Common occurrence in the warmer months.

It's not signed by CalTrans (except on mile marker posts), but I-80 -- between roughly American Canyon Road and the rest area -- passes through a corner of Napa County.

Absolutely fantastic video! Loved every second of it. The Bay Area has some of the most beautiful (if not the most beautiful) bridges in the world, and that view of the city skyline from the Bay Bridge is to die for. Makes a daily commute in from Vacaville *almost* worth it! 😋

I don't recommended commuting from Vacaville to San Francisco Daily because I live here (Solano County) and I know if its with pre pandemic traffic the commute would be close to two hours due to jams near the Bay Bridge. Note my family did that. I had to commute from Vallejo to Sacramento in the pre pandemic era and it is the same distance as Vacaville to San Francisco but that commute was 1.5 hours.

It would probably be dicey as a solo driver. Casual carpool before the pandemic might have made it bearable. I agree with the bridges, the Golden Gate and Richmond-San Rafael bridges are upcoming in my coverage.

@@cabalenproductions6480 . I know how it feels I-880 is much worse than the commutes from Vacaville to San Francisco. The Nimitz freeway is always gridlocked in multiple areas. Even if It’s not, it’s a slow sail down to downtown San Jose.

@@freewayelliott3481 Yes I remember I had friends and family that commute from Fairfield to Emeryville or Berkeley that told me accidents are common on I-880 due to both Silicon Valley and Port of Oakland traffic and that has some contribution to why Highway 80 is jammed too near the Bay Bridge. Highway 880 is the Bay Area version of the Long Beach Freeway.

@@rockersk08 Also if you were to see Solano County pre-pandemic level in Fairfield you would see Traffic jams on both directions of I-80 given that Solano County has to carry both Sacramento area, Wine Country and San Francisco traffic at the same time. Solano County was hyped up as "Affordable Housing" for Bay Area and Sacramento commuters prior to the pandemic. Its just that the core destination areas are too expensive.

Very awesome work! I technically filmed that very section before from Vacaville to San Francisco one time, but, the footage was long gone.

I wanted to capture this for the longest time, finally got it done! I forgot why it was not on my list eight years ago, no matter now.

There are about 20 towns named Fairfield in this country. The one in California is the biggest by far. It was named for Fairfield, CT. Signed, a resident of Fairfield,CA

That Richmond mall officially shut down?! Damn! I actually love to stop at failing malls on my travels. The time capsule level of potential interior design outdatedness aside, a lot of even the deadest ones still have functioning WiFi (good for when phone service isn’t on), cleaner restrooms than your average freeway rest area, and if the weather sucks and you need to stretch your legs after perhaps several hours of nonstop driving, you can do that or sit down (again potentially under WiFi) and search for a good local restaurant to eat at on your way, quick things to see, or even do a last minute hotel reservation. I’m crunching the numbers for my planned travel thru the PNW in general this July (including NoCal). What little time I plan on spending in California (a literal few days out of 2 weeks), I increasingly worry if I can pull it off. From a Midwesterner’s POV, I’m personally s**t scaredless… but I wanna see enough of the state with my own eyes in memory (literally spent the first 3 years of my life in Southern Cali) first opportunity… after this year, the majority of what there is to see throughout the entire Mountain Time Zone will have been seen by me… Either Cali or literally going international will eventually be my only options!

I-80 between SF and Sacramento used to be US 40 until the renumbering on the 2nd half of 1964. US 50 was I-580 CA, I-205 CA, I-5, CA-120, and CA-99 until 1964.

I still can't believe that I've actually flown into and out of SF more times than I have driven to and thru, which was just once. I need to change THAT stat someday soon.

Cool ride! Is everyone speeding or were you taking it easy?
@rockersk08
@rockersk08 3 жыл бұрын
I had my cruise control locked at 65 MPH for most of the ride, followed the speed limits. Most were going faster hence why I stuck to the outside. I was not in a rush, a chill Sunday drive for me!

@@rockersk08 Well most people in CA drive 80, so that's not surprising. Even on the Bay Bridge, everyone ignores the 50 mph speed limit.
