My mother went to school with Mr Morgans mother in Ray ND. The Sherman family lived in the house they rented from my grandmother. My mom was so happy to learn of her success as I understand the book chronicles her difficult start in ND.

It's a great book. And yes, reading about her start, it's incredible she was able to accomplish so much.

+Tim Vial: My mothers, both of them, Mary Sherman Morgan and Mary Miller Hibbard (1st cousins), were born in Ray. Henry and Ida (Lajoie) Miller and Toussaint Lajoie (both Mary's grandfather) also homesteaded there. Henry, his baby daughter Esther Miller, and Toussaint all died in Ray in 1915. It would be lovely to ever find some records about them. Ironically, given the views of Dorothy Sherman on picture-taking, her sister's husband, Mr. Miller, was an incredible photographer. We have photos that he took (with original glass negatives) of Ray from about 1910-1915.
