Wish there more tutorials like this. An excellent song to sing to (when no one is listening 😅), basic chords to get into the song quickly, then plenty of information to help embellish then gradually increase the complexity.

Many moons ago my parents sent me to piano lessons with a little old lady. I actually said I want to play like Elton, needless to say she wasn't impressed. I then took up guitar..... Now back to piano in later life and loving it.

Love your work Tom! One thing I would love is to have with these kinds of breakdowns are the chords also notated via the number system to get a more holistic understanding of how these chords are working together. Although probably a good exercise to figure this out myself!

I remember a video you did on Elton's Your Song a few years ago when i was first learning piano, and I did my best to follow it. I've been playing for 4 years now but I do need some structure after just trying to learn individual songs on KZbin. I can't play the beautiful improvised fills that you do yet, but this lesson is fantastic for the chord fingerings. I've registered for your Musician course and look forward to September 30.

Great video tutorial and love the Chord chart for this great song. Question: what does it actually mean to play "F over the A?" Is it just the A being bottom of the F maj chord and its an innversion? Or is the A played with LH? AndI assume that goes for the other notes showing a chord over a note? For other chords, are you just playing the root note with the LH? Thanks!

I Thank You for the nice lesson. But, you started out showing us the Virtual Keyboard with the 2 chords, but then you showed us chords from above looking down at your fingers. It is harder to know the exact chords. Sometimes we cannot see the correct keys from above. At least for me. But again, Thank You.
