I loved this whole movie, and I found this sequence probably the saddest part of it. Elton’s apology to Renate after he has his drink followed with the “I know” was heart breaking, maybe second only to the part with him and his dad. You kind of just saw how both of them cared about each other, but knew that it wasn’t love and that it wasn’t right.

My guess is. At this time in his life, everything he has been through. He probably said, fuck it, goes head and marries a woman. Because right there and then, She seemed to be the only person to understand and like him. He felt a little bit of genuine real affection and warmth from her. And clearly at this time, he didn't care if it was a man or woman.

From what I've read, Reid was horrible to Elton while they were in a relationship, but after a while they stayed friends and Reid was even his manager for a while after Elton ended things. I think inviting Reid to his wedding was his way of saying "I don't need you to be happy" Because Elton said that for a while Reid made it seem like he was still in love with Elton. Listen, I LOVED this movie. I think Taron and Richard were amazing, and were perfectly cast. I don’t think anyone could replace Taron. He was made for this role. But Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me is also one of my favourite Elton songs…and wow this version is…awful. It’s a shame, really. Especially considering I feel like he sang songs like Amoreena better than Elton. This isn’t Taron’s fault. It’s the music producers fault. Taking out the iconic intro and replacing it with a bunch of G’s was a terrible idea. Slowing the song down was a terrible idea. Replacing the piano with strings was a terrible idea. Wow. I haven’t been able to get over this since May 31st.
