That's the thing, though, when he tried finding someone at his lowest point, he got hold music. He did an interview with the Charismatic Voice where he went in a bit more detail about what he was going through. He knew he was in a bad place, he tried to find a mental health specialist, and they just bounced him around without actually offering any help.

You cannot call evil good and good evil. For The Bible has warned about these times coming, and we are now living in them. "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!" Isaiah 5:20-21 As a Christian you support worldly music, but you do not support your own Religion/God. (Calling evil good and good evil). Helping a human is not Christian like if Christ is not even involved in the act. Nor is it being a good person, as you should know that "good people" don't actually exist. We are all sinners who go against God, and that's why Jesus is our Saviour. If we were "good people", then we wouldn't need Jesus to save us, nor would we sin against God. By supporting Disturbed you have put darkness for light and light for darkness. You are working backwards towards the world and not forwards toward Christ. By this action you might not even be on the narrow road to Heaven, but on the wide road to hell. You need to repent of your sin and turn towards Christ my friend. Put down the ways of the world, and stop: "wanting to please our sinful selves and wanting the sinful things we see. Being too proud of what we have. None of these come from the Father, but all of them come from the world." 1 John 2:16

I would like to point out that it is Disturb's lyrics, "Drowning deep in my sea of loathing, broken, Your servant, I kneel," that is often a prayer I send up to my Heavenly Father. It brings me closer to God, and the song reminds me that it is Him who knew me before I was born, whose hand formed me in my mother's womb, that made me who I am. I have battled the demons of depression and rejection by members of my own family since I was a child. I thank God every day for removing the scales from my eyes, teaching me to hear, and opening my mind so that I know He is EVERYWHERE.

Coincidentally I was previously JUST watching a video on Loudwire’s channel about psycho preachers bashing on heavy metal and rock music. I’m a Christian and there are people from church still bashing on this music like during the satanic panic in the 80s. There’s ironically nothing evil about the music. People look at pop musicians and rappers doing stuff that look satanic but almost nobody cares. But when it comes to rock/metal everyone literally panics like it’s the end of the world. This is seriously getting out of hand.😔

No person is in a position to judge another, Jesus said "all have fallen short of the glory of god" , which is the whole point of his crucifixion! The act of listening to music alone will not put you in sin, the act if sinning will put you in sin!

I have to admit, that's funny! I just wonder, was he interested in finding out about you and what you were going through and offering to pray with you - you know, things that made it seem like he cared about YOU - the person, rather than you - the latest spiritual "scalp" hanging off his belt? IOW, was he actually trying to save you cuz he cared about you personally, or just so he could fill his "quota"? Cuz if it's the latter, I could see why you weren't interested.

@@denisemayosky1955 Just to offer some more context: I've always been a very chill dude. Never done drugs. Never smoked. Just the occasional social cocktail with the wife. I just happen to gravitate towards dark stuff as far as entertainment goes. I like extreme Metal music, I tend to like villains in fictional stories more... stuff like that. However, that was enough for him to think I was doomed, which always seemed weird to me. Like, why would God worry about something so tiny as the type of music I listen to? But that's another conversation. lol Anyway, he even asked me if I would remember his words after he had been taken to Heaven during the Great Rapture. He assumed I would stay on Earth to suffer. Worst of all, he was sure God would take him and, even though I'm not a religious person, I'm pretty sure no one can possibly predict what God's judgment would be. That's between each individual and Him as far as I understand. It was all very weird and no, it never felt like it was coming from a place of care. It all felt very patronizing.

As a Christian myself and being raised Baptist or non-denomination. I can understand David's frustration. I do like to share my beliefs and faith with people here and there. But I don't cram it and I don't point fingers, hold signs etc... Basically I don't think I am better than you or over you because of my faith. Rock on! \,,/

I’m a newcomer to the Disturbed fan base and have had my own struggles with mental health. Dave and his efforts are greatly appreciated. People like the Westboro Baptist Church are the worst type of hypocrites. They also seem to revel in their ignorance. I recently saw a post on Facebook that featured signs from (with one exception) of Baptist churches that urged their members to forego their education lest they “lose touch with God”. I can’t say what I really think about that without risking getting banned from KZbin for extreme profanity.

Saw Disturbed in concert on March 2. Best show ever, and the opening acts were incredible. Many of the songs from Disturbed has kept me from doing something stupid. Hearing David mention how close he got to leaving us, really made me feel not so alone in my fight. Disturbed is a group more people should listen to, and go see live.

I say this as both a Christian and a metalhead. To anyone who has been burned by the church I personally would like to say you are loved and you have value. These Westboro guys and other highly legalistic churches like them are not representing Christ well. They are far more like the Pharisees that Jesus condemned, and they ultimately lead people away from Jesus. Please take heart. You are not alone in your struggles. Jesus sees you and knows the pain and difficulty you face. You can choose to take that leap of faith in Him if you want to, but that is entirely your choice to make. There are still churches and Christians out there who will accept you no matter who you've been, what you've done, or what you've experienced. Don't give up. David is right. Don't let the darkness win. Be strong and stand in hope and truth. Jehovah Shalom be with you.

I used to go to church every sunday , but I was brought up to question everything , and make up my own mind , and when a church protests rock / metal music , its complete and utter ignorance , they never listen to the song , they have there minds made up as soon as they hear electric guitars and drums , and then they push people away from church and religion for no reason at all because they preach that metal music is evil , to me different types of music are just like different languages , they sound different , but they're trying to say the same thing , there is nothing wrong with metal music
@TheRealShawnCrowe10 ай бұрын
Yup... It's not always the artists/musicians that are inherently evil of any genre, it's the big record companies that are usually the culprits doing most of the evil stuff unbeknownst to the artists/musicians... Usually...

I recovered from another 2 week depression and horrible panic attacks. And the thoughts are not the best ones. But with help of family, friends and the music I love, I can recover. I am really sad for people who goes true this, its a very horrible feeling.
@clevelandstreetpreachers9 ай бұрын
Metal music is a temporary fix to a permanent problem. Only Jesus can heal the depression thru His unfailable love. Jesus won’t mask your depression for a time but will heal it permanently if you turn from your sin and surrender your life to following Him. Disturbed doesn’t have the power to set people free only the Son of God sets free John 8:32

Pastor here: You will only find protests like this from Westborow. They have roots in the legal system and make a living off of suing those who either harm them or ask them to vacate public property. (I've seen them protest a Christian worship concert.) Yes, as Christians we are to be in the world yet not be of the world but Christians shouldn't expect the world to act like born again, Spirit filled believers. I would love to give a hug to David and sit with him for an hour to share my testimony how Jesus has saved me, but to also hear his story and thoughts on faith. This is the way of Jesus.
@THE-WAY_THE-TRUTH_THE-LIFE.10 ай бұрын
The way of Jesus is not to accept secular ways though. If you listen to Disturbed, then you are listening to secular music, hence falling into secular ways. The way of Jesus is to rebuke secular ways and correct them with Holy ways through love and kindness. As you being a Pastor you should not be listening to, nor supporting Disturbed. (The name "Disturbed" is very telling by itself.) If you put your feelings before your faith, then you are not following in the ways of Jesus just because you say you are. "You will know them by their fruits". As a Christian you need to stop listening to/supporting Disturbed and repent of falling into secular music and start listening to Christian/worship music only. (However even in Christian music there are a lot of devil worshippers and false/lukewarm Christian musicians, so you have to he careful there too.) This is why we have discernment from The Holy Spirit, and if you don't have any, then you need to ask God for some so you don't fall for the ways of this world/ways of the devil. Amen

@@THE-WAY_THE-TRUTH_THE-LIFE. David and his bandmates are a whole hell of a lot more Christian than you are.
@THE-WAY_THE-TRUTH_THE-LIFE.10 ай бұрын
@@byrondickens Sorry, but that's merely just a biased opinion. It seems that you might not even fully understand what a Christian is. A Christian doesn't put the ways of the world before Christ, but puts Christ before the ways of the world. A Christian doesn't conform into secularism, but stands out against it. A Christian represents Christ Jesus and not themselves. You see someone not going along with the ways of this world and since this doesn't align with your way of thinking you automatically think that someone must be worldly in order to be considered true to something? If so, then this is just mere nonsense. The more worldly a person seems the less Christian they actually are. The Bible is here for a reason, and that reason is not to just ignore it, but to read it and obey it. To learn it and love it. To live it and preach it. So If you don't agree with The Bible, then that's only on you my friend, but it's not on me that you don't agree with it. So your mislabeling of what makes someone more of a Christian than another again just lies on you. It doesn't lie on me that you misunderstand Christianity, but it does lie on you to fix your perception here on this problem.
