I am not into Country music. In fact, I'm a metalhead through and through. When I listen to this song, I can completely relate. The song is so amazing it actually gives me chills. I 100% agree with this message. He's wrote an amazing Anthem against what is wrong in our country. God bless him and I pray that this song hits #1 on every music chart and I hope he gets an award for it!!!!

I'm from Brasil and am from a small town and 100% love this song. People from small towns do take care of and watch out for each other. This song has nothing to do with racism. When a crisis or emergency situation occurs, people get together regardless of any differences. In small towns, people are not used to this kind of violence/criminality and will not allow that to continue. He is 100% correct at the current state that we are in right now, it IS allowed in the cities and the injustice/violence/looting groups now have rights to do what they do.

I listened to this song many times trying to understand why it is offensive. This song basically is a patriotic song that exposes the group of people that is causing havoc in our country and disrupting the foundation of our core values and beliefs. The small towns are symbolizing our traditional American values and beliefs and would not let this group of people destroy our country. Only those being exposed would find this song offensive and want to shut it down. It is time we all unite together to get rid of those perverts and criminals from our societies.

Its weird to call that song racist. I know many minorities in small town I live in and they dont act like city folks. Makes me sad when we as a people cannot see what really is racism and folks trying to be apalled over something they don’t really get. Standing up for your loved ones and protecting those who are precious to you is at the heart of small America, whether your town is 100 or 100k. God Bless the USA begins at home, our street and our little towns. We teach our children and grandchildren the values we learned. If we don’t, then they miss the boat my friend. Bro Jason, keep singing this about our small towns…hopefully people will listen with their hearts and try to heed the message. I thank you for not catering to the “woke” crowd. Not inciting a lynching, just protecting there people and moving the violators on and out. It’s a great song. Well done Jason.

The song Try That In A Small Town is saying don't try that violence in a small town and is certainly not advocating for violence. Don't know how people are getting this wrong and Sheryl Crowe obviously missed this point!!!! I support Jason Aldean and thank to Ted Nugent for supporting Jason as well. Seems like people with common sense understand what the song was saying. ❤❤

I was raised in small towns, live the city life for almost all of my adulthood, and moved back to a small town. I don't see racism in the video or hear it in the song but I don't know how people can't see the violence being talked about in this song. He's saying he has a gun, his grandad gave him, and then he says Try that in a small town Full of good ol' boys, raised up right If you're looking for a fight Try that in a small town How can anyone NOT see the violence in those lines? It's not implied, it's outright stated. And the video says it all. Nothing but violence through the entire video. There is a huge difference in 'taking care of your own' especially during any kind of a disaster, and wanting to do damage to people who don''t agree with your viewpoint.

It amazes me that any REAL musician would think that this song is a racial song? I mean in the very 1st 4 verses he is mentioning the bad in the world, but then he's saying "you try this in a small town and your gonna get your ass kicked". At 1 time I lived in a town of 38 people, and we all helped each other and looked after each other, and you can bet your ass if some of these things in the video would have come to our small town, WE WOULD HAVE KICKED YOUR ASS. There are just way too many people out there, that either don't have enough to do, or they have done lost their minds, why does everything have to be analyzed to the tiniest grain? Jason just keep on doing what you do, always remember where you came from, keep that "country boy" in your heart, and let "The Butt Hurt" go to their next victim.

I was told it promotes violence and other stuff, but I didn't see it that way and people who don't even know me attacked me, saying I was racist and fascist and promoting gun violence, when it's just the opposite. The only thing wrong with "Try that in a small town" Is the fact that people do not want to hear the truth. This song has nothing to do with race and everything to do with people coming to together to protect their community. The problem is many communities are too dvided and not united...one only has to look at our country as a whole to see that is exactly what's wrong today... Too many people are willing to look the other way or let other people fight the fight!

I grew up in an area of Georgia that had a Baptist church we all went to. It became the first one in our area of Georgia to allow a mixed congregation. That means, white and black worshipping together. This was in the late 1960s, after desegregation and civil rights acts. By the way, why was it illegal in the south for whites and blacks to marry pre-1968? That's what Aldean wants to bring back to small towns. Moving on... First weekend after that mixed congregation service happened, it was a Saturday night, we saw a big orange glow over the trees coming over the tree-tops from the direction of the church we lived about 2 miles from. I was still a youth, me and friends hopped on our bikes and raced down to the dirt road and then over towards the church. Klan was there... burning a giant cross on the lawn outside the church. One of the Klanners had a bullhorn, he was demanding the pastor come out and face their fury because they wanted to lynch him for allowing blacks into a Baptist church. He never did come out that I saw. But yeah, they paraded around all night long but surprisingly they would never touch or enter the church. I guess even Klanners fear the wrath of God. Or, maybe they feared the locals might engage in an uprising. So then they held a second cross burning. This time a few weeks later at the dirt track on the outskirts of town where we'd go to watch fireworks on Independence Day. It was a recruiting drive. Many of us stayed far away. Oddly, today a church now stands on the property of that old race track. I guess God did right, drove the Klanners out of the small town. They reap what they sow and they all know that they face eternal damnation for what they doing. But that's what Aldean is trying to bring back to small towns. But I got news for him. He'll be driven out just like the Klan was.

The transcript of Jason Aldean's reply shows me that he took time to think through the potential backlash and he had his response ready before others could get all those wrong ideas. I love Sheryl Crow; she got this wrong.

All these people that are in an uproar over this song obviously aren’t getting the message behind the song. They are mad about the video that is made up of news clips that we all have been seeing for years now! The message is the violence in these video would not have happened in small town due to the fact that the People and law enforcement of the “ small towns” don’t stand for that kind of behavior and would not let it happen to begin with and damn sure wouldn’t let it escalate to the level it did in the clips within the video! There is nothing racist about this video nor does it promote violence! I stand with Jason Aldean!

Do some research. Most of the footage of violence in the video is from other countries. Oops!

@@shaymcquaid We HAVE been paying attention. Paying attention to all the BLM and Antifa riots. The police in big cities being told to stand down and let them do whatever they want. Let them destroy the city. As Sheriff Judd of Polk County Florida said when Antifa said they were coming, "You come here... you break into houses or try to burn them or businesses down... the people here have guns and they WILL shoot you... and I am standing here TELLING them to shoot you. You come here trying to cause trouble... trouble is what YOU will get". And THAT is what the song is about. People of ALL races in small towns won't stand for crap. They WILL stand together to defeat anyone trying to hurt anyone in their town.

Ted Neugent is no bad ass. He's just a scared old man with an arsenal of guns cause he got beat up so much as a kid! He literally buys exotic animals from other countries, dumps them on his property, then hunts them down and butchers them with those weapons. He is a sick individual.
