I do concert security and listen to metal music so I can see both sides to this, if he was dropping people/not adequately prepared for that kind of environment he should’ve never been in barricade that night. Most venues only get these kind of shows every blue moon and not all security can deal with that type of crowd. Management is 100% to blame for not putting capable staff in that spot tonight. I understand the singers concern too. I’ve been yelled at by a singer before because two people were launched into me at the same time and I couldn’t catch both. I understand not wanting to see your fans get hurt. But you cannot put your hands on security (or anyone for that matter) and not expect retaliation. Security in front of the stage are supposed to assist crowd surfers in landing on their feet and then redirecting them back into the crowd. Its a few feet that the crowd surfer dropped because the security guard didn't even attempt to catch him, and the singer reacted to this by taking off the securities hat. Bands genuinely do care about their fans, and security at venues seem to be becoming a lot lazier in recent years. It is part of securities job to catch those crowd surfers. But to then drag the singer off the stage and the band's gear too, there is no wonder why the guitarists acted the way they did. The band did the tight thing and its also important to remember that people do get injured when they don't get catched like they're supposed to, and when security doesn't intervene in situations, and people also get hurt when they get pushed or dragged off stage!

To be fair, the security guy didn't throw the fan down. The fan reached the barricade and the other fans actively shoved his body off them while the security were setting up to catch him. It's literally in 4k lol. Both security guards there attempted to catch him very clearly, but didn't expect him to get shoved off. Then the vocalist rips the guards hat off in a disrespectful manor. Sure the security shouldn't have pulled him off the stage, but entertainers also don't have the right to put hands on security like that. There were other ways to get his attention. Dude is human and reacted to being physically grabbed at from behind in less than half a second. He probably didn't even register that it was the performer grabbing him, most likely thought it was a fan. He didn't continue to pummel him or anything, just brought him down and realized the mistake. Clearly he shouldn't be working in security if this is his reaction, but he isn't at fault for what happened with the fan. The vocalist saw the fan go down but didn't see what led up to it, instead of tapping him on the shoulder or calling him out on the mic in his hands. He screams off mic, like the guard doesn't have ear plugs in and was actively trying to get the fan up; then He rips his hat off his head. You get what you put out. You can't be in a band named alpha wolf and be surprised when your violence is met with violence lol. These guys are being paid like $16-19 an hour to catch humans who are actively kicking and flailing the whole time. A few people naturally go down, it comes with these types of shows. I grew up going to hardcore shows, If you crowdsurf or mosh you're putting yourself in a potentially dangerous situation. Security are human and there are only 4-6 of them for a crowd of people. No one can predict how the crowd of people will launch your 140lbs body, especially people that didn't want your body on them to begin with. The guy will most likely lose his job, but honestly he could probably counter sue for the entertainer putting there hands on him like that. The entertainer escalated the situation that was already being dealt with. Emotional people create volatile situations. Props to the band for not being pussies and backing their singer up, but everyone in this situation is a dumbass; especially the vocalist. Dude created the situation as soon as he went hands on, security turned him into a beta wolf in less than a second 🤣. Having a grown man grab you will change your perspective real quick. Our music scene is already struggling to keep venues afloat, demonizing the already underpaid security will kill the scene even quicker. There is a reason warped tour and shit like that don't exist anymore.

The Warfield has had like two metal shows in 10 years these workers don't know how to handle how intense the shows are. The security guards are not ready for this. Not a excuse but it does give context. Most of the shows at the Warfield don't have moshing or crowd surfing at all and in fact crowd surfing is not allowed in almost any venue in SF even though it does happen.

So knocking off a person's hat rightfully escalates into being dragged off of a stage So does the dragging off the stage rightfully escalate in a security guard getting shot between the eyes with a 9MM pistol? I'm all about "proportional" responses, so help me out here y'all
@neilpatrickhairlessАй бұрын
At the very bare minimum by your metrics, the security guard had a broken kneecap coming, we can all agree on this correct?
@calebhohneke8482Ай бұрын
@@neilpatrickhairless Yanking off someone's hat (possibly smacking him in the head too) is considered assault and battery (Google it if you don't believe me). How someone chooses to react when they are assaulted is up to them. Alpha Wolf's vocalist acted tough, wanted a fight, and got his fight. I'm of the mindset that you keep your hands to yourself unless you want the following consequences. You can look at things in "proportional responses" all you want, but the truth is that if you don't instigate something, then you don't have to worry about proportionality in the first place. Can we agree on that? haha
@pramusetyakanca1552Ай бұрын
@@calebhohneke8482, still doesn't justify the act of pulling him off stage with such force. WTF, man? Look, I get the vocalist paid for the consequences of his action, but ffs such a response, a response that could've led to the vocalist getting injured no less, ain't a good move either

I was first hand witness to this kind of security issue. Back in 04 I saved Al Jourgensen from Ministry from a trip to a Winnipeg hospital during the opening bands set, yet right after that security manhandled Al with a forearm to his throat. Uncle Al was F'n pissed... I don't blame him one bit. But in retrospect that incident made for one hell of a concert. Pretty intense and unforgetable. Seems that both of these cases the security can't differentiate the differnce between the talent and the audience. On the back of my ticket it stated "NO STAGE DIVING!!!"....and guess who stage dove. I bet that this latest incident is extremely similar.
@Corvy95228 күн бұрын
Whether the singer started it or not, the security guards level of aggression in his reaction is waaay too disproportionate to what the singer did. Singer knocked his hat off or smacked him in the back of the head, I’m sorry but that does not warrant the security guard full on dragging the singer off the stage in that manner. That type of dragging could have easily seriously injured the singer, broken a limb or heavy concussion. That was vicious and the band should definitely sue the security guard and possibly the venue.

Maybe grabbing the security guard's beanie wasn't the wisest move but I think it was justified in light of what happened with the dropped crowd surfer. Maybe Sabian throwing his guitar wasn't the wisest move either but I'm proud of him for being willing to fight for his bandmate. Security pulling him off stage was beyond ridiculous & could have been very dangerous.
@alinack69Ай бұрын
He wasn't reaching to shake anyone's hand, he stole the security guy's hat. Does that incident alone constitute being pulled off stage? No. But there was also no need for multiple people to jump in and throw/thrust guitars at the security. Violence is cringe, the situation was handled poorly from ALL involved.

Security is wrong for pulling singer off stage but why is it the Securities job to catch crowd surfers? You choose to do something then take some personal responsibility... I was at the show and saw it from middle of the floor, can't speak for what happened to gather guy crowd surfing (they gave their own breakdown of events as stated) the singer did throw the security guy's hat and in turn was pulled off stage along with a box of wiring. Bass player threw the bass (probably meant to throw at security and slipped out of hands early into another audience member) the whole altercation was all bad and blame can be given to both sides. To anyone there who was injured, obviously wish them the best. But F that security guy because letting someone fall is one thing but dragging someone off stage is a step too far. 🖕

Not sure what the policy on crowd surfing is but the crowd surfer was toted towards the security guy. The security guy puts his hand on the surfer. It looks to me, at 1:11, the security guy pulled the surfer towards himself and the people holding the surfer up let the surfer drop at the same time. The security guy's head never moves much. The singer then reaches down, grabs the security guy's hat. (No idea where our host gets the notion that the singer was trying to shake hands with fans. 😂 ) The security guy then grabs the singer and pulls him down. The singer throws the hat as the security guy pulls him.

The singer obviously was taunting the security guard smacking him over the head knocking off his cap which is seen flying off of the guy's head. That said, it doesn't mean he can just grab his leg and potentially cause serious harm to him by dragging him down from the stage.
