Rockford Files blew the lid off secret surveillance decades before the NSA scandal

Stephen J. Cannell wrote a good episode here with The Rockford Files' Season 4 "The House on Willis Avenue." Secret surveillance was what Rockford and Richie Brockelman uncovered in this episode and it is very apropos to what is going on at this moment in time in the U.S.A.
In the month of June 2013 when I posted this video, a whistleblower told the world that the U.S. National Security Agency had been secretly spying on millions of Americans, through phone and internet records. The U.S. government was quite upset about this revelation; however, anyone who watched this Rockford Files episode in 1978 was already well aware of these shenanigans.
To quote from the episode:
MacGregor: "To my knowledge none of this is illegal."
Rockford: "Well it sure as hell oughta be."

This is why the The Rockford Files is the best tv show ever. No other 70s drama or comedy on television was covering such topics as white collar crime, computer technology, Wall Street cheats, wealthy hoodlums, and high-priced con games. The program truly was decades ahead of its time.

That's one thing I really liked about the "Rockford Files"...Jim always went the extra-mile to stand up for what was right...and went after those who "corrupted the system" and got away with murder...

Another part of this episode that was ahead of its time: it noted how these computer servers would need to be housed in huge facilities that would wreck the environment. Something that people still aren't thinking about.

Aside from the size of computers back in those days... much of what goes on hasn't changed fairly much.

You know it! He was kick ass in this episode. Had a little dog, too, that kept annoying him. It was pretty funny.

Sounds like Obama, the Democrats, the NSA, the DOJ, and the IRS. Who would have thought that this would happen 34 years ago?
