I love the stump videos, even if they bring a lot of negative feedback sometimes. Thanks!

After watching you and several others demo a Baumalight 3P24 stump grinder, I purchased one. Over last spring and summer, I took out about 12 stumps as small as yours up to almost 5ft diameter at ground level. It took me longer to cut the stump shorter than to grind the remainder. When done, I leveled the ground a little with my bucket or hand rake and I was done.

Morning. I removed a ~48" oak stump, ~8" above ground for a client a year ago - along with two others next to it. I brought the 48" stump down to ~6" below grade in two hours, using my Dewalt chainsaw & a small stump grinder rented from my local hardware store. Charged her $200, and the client was completely satisfied. It can be done in a reasonable amount of time, I was cetainly not hard on the equipment, and used a small rented grinder; the stumps were about 6 feet from the home which was over 150 years old, so my removal methods were very limited - basically by hand like I did. Good luck.

Morning Brock! We dig out most of our stumps no matter how large with an older John Deere 210 loader/backhoe. When possible we do it in one piece having leverage as a friend. Cut off as flush as possible and carry it to the burn pile. The stump will burn away with a large pile in a few days. Does help to scrape as much dirt as you can but it will eventually burn

I do the same thing. Dig out all my stumps. And it might take weeks to burn them, but it’s so much fun

@@Nicholaskleyn Hey Nic! I think Brock could've dug that stump out. He's got the equipment and the smarts to conquer that stump and yes it's fun to watch burn. Our burn piles are quite large so those big stumps disappear in no time. Thanks for replying.

Every time I remove a big stump using all the different equipment I have it makes me think of how hard it was for our forefathers who didn't have all this equipment and just had hand tools and strong backs to remove all the trees to open up areas for small towns.

I agree. I have a Yanmar SV100 and have spent weeks clearing land and I wonder how our forefathers did it without machines. They were amazing people

I've had stumps like that. I had one that I burnt on for over a year. And finally got got it small enough that I pulled it out with my truck. I had a big hole last so I covered it with dirt.

Many times I take my back blower and set on the ground at idle. Take a piece of wood to prop up the hose a couple inches and burn damp leaves or brush more quickly with less smoke. 👍

Good morning Brock. I hope that you and your family had a wonderful holiday. When you started on this stump originally I suggested just digging it out, digging the hole out deeper, and just push it back in and cover it up. It may have taken several days to accomplish but I still stick with my origional advice. It would have taken a lot less time, resources, and work and it would have been done 2 years ago. Yeah, it would have eventually rotted away under ground and sunk a little over the years but it would have taken a lot of years. As I said when I gave the advice originally, it's just one old man's opinion. I'm happy that you finally got it done. God bless and have a wonderful day. 👍👍🙂

When I was 14 yrs old they were building a new road through a woods to a new subdivision. Road about 1 mile long total. I watched them take the trees down, then take out the stumps. This old guy probably in his 60s, came in and blased them out. I watched for a day then I got the nerve to go talk to him and ask him if he could show me how it did it. He would measure the stump and kind of tree, had a chart on how much dynamite to use. Would dig out a small hole under the stump, put a primer in a stick of dynamite and make the appropriate charge be it 1, 1-1/2, 2 sticks, whatever the chart called for although he didn't use his chart much, measure out 1-1/2 feet primer cord (1 min a foot burn) light it and walk away. Those stumps would come out about 2 to 3 feet above ground and lay down. How simple and quick it is. Today they would throw him in jail for letting me do 3 of those trees. I'm glad I grew up in the 50s. Maybe you need to get a blasters license. Sure makes stump removal easy.

Live stumps have a high moisture content after they dry out they burn easier.

@ I remember watching your videos about how you needed to sell some stuff because you were overextending yourself. Glad to hear you made some hard decisions like that because I don’t think I could part with my skid steer but if I had to, I would have to.
