There's something about watching a mill run. I could watch these videos all day. Except, I have my own mill and spend a lot of time watching that run. This winter has been bad for running the mill, though. Too much snow. I can't keep up with clearing the area, and when I do, I run out of places to put the snow! I'm talking about ten-foot high snowbanks in the places I put my snow! Thank goodness spring is not far off. This week's forecast predicts four days with snow. It's not supposed to be a lot, but I have a lot of area to plow and no place left to put it. Pretty much dead in the water right now. Can't wait to get things rolling again. Thanks for the video!

I have the Hudson homesteader 21" . I love using it, but I wish I had a bigger mill. Most of the time it's big enough for the logs I have gotten. Great video

You"s mentioned the chainsaw milling. I picked up a Husq 394xp with a 48 Alaskan mill. Only intention is to use it when I get a larger diameter tree and need to cant it to fit on my mill or to produce large slabs. Haven't used it yet but the time will come, but I fret the day even though I'm excited to give it a shot. Curious how ppls saws held up using the chainsaw mills? That a nice mill in this vid.However all mills seem to be better then nothing. One thing I'd like to see is a log loader (like on a forwarder or excavator) that can be part of the trailer. Using a pevey, cant or even the ramps with cable winch is easier but still a pain in the ass. I suppose no matter what add ons we get we will always want to make things a bit more easy, efficient and productive. Great vid. :)

I did quite a few videos on chainsaw Milling. My saw held up fine. It was a 500i I ended up getting a Woodland Mills HM 130 max and I’ve been really happy with it. I’ve got quite a few milling videos out using it

Brock good video......... But the major flaw is you need to figure what $$$$$ is in the budget. mills from 8k to 80k are what is avaible.

I think to spend more than the $10-$15,000 range you really need to be making money with the mill full time. For occasional use you can get a mill for $3000 with a narrow opening. All depends on how much you are going to use it. I’ve been traveling around and trying a lot of different brands and I will end up with whichever one I thought had the best value for the money.

Great review. I wish you were upfront about the options and prices of each mill you review. It would be more useful.
@RockhillfarmYT

What do you mean by that? Every time I use a different mill I state everything I like and don’t like about it. How much more upfront could I be? I’m just sharing my experience with them For example, with this one, I really like the simplicity of the winch used to raise and lower the mill head, but I don’t like that there is not a jack you can use to level the log

I just noticed that you said prices, I will sometimes reference a generalized price, but there are several reasons I don’t give prices in videos and why almost no one else does either. Most of the time when I go to shows, or I have a product rep in the video with me, they will specifically tell me not to mention prices Prices change on a regular basis and videos last for years and years. It’s fairly common to watch a video that is 10 years old. If I tell you that today this is a $10,000 mill and you watch the video three years later and it’s $13,000 who is that helping Also, you can get the price per easily by doing a Google search. It’s difficult for me to give a price on a product that can be purchased with a lot of different options. Do I price it with the larger motor or with the standard motor, what about with or without the winch? When there are 20 different models available and Different options you can choose on each model it’s not really that much information for me to tell you what this exact configuration cost Shipping is a big cost on a sawmill. Do I try to estimate an average cost? Do I price it without shipping? Do I price it with shipping?

@@RockhillfarmYT I appreciate everything you said. My comment wasn't to suggest you provide a price guide, but to give current price range (maybe as reviewed) for comparison to folks considering mills. You provide lots of other information that people can find on a Google search too, but it is helpful. Really, I wasn't trying to criticize your videos, just suggesting it would be nice additional data.

The fact that you have to pay a deposit to figure out when you might get it and the price is still "subject to change" even after deposit probably turns more tan just me away.

Who cares about Nathan heis all about free advertising equipment rather watch people that works for what they get
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT Жыл бұрын
Nathan doesn’t have any free equipment. He worked to earn the equipment. He has produced 901 videos. Those videos take hours to make, and hours to edit. It is a full-time job. I have ran several businesses myself. Some were solo and some had employees. Starting a KZbin channel feels exactly like starting a lawn care, business or a manufacturing business that I have done in the past. In the beginning you work for free and take on risk and debt and you, struggle and people make fun of you. Then if it works and you start making money, people say, “must be nice” or “He’s so lucky” So if we can agree that it’s a lot of work, making a video, do you think that he should work for free? Do you work for free? I do not. It is a full-time job that you need to be compensated for. If part of that compensation is being able to use equipment, then that is more than fair in my opinion. If KZbin Video creators were not compensated, there would be no videos to watch
