I did the same exact thing you did and I still haven't been able to figure out where it is after 3 times of trying. I am glad to see I'm not the only one!

I went to same spot in the book and didn't find much. Found what I believed to be a stolen vehicle abandoned and a bunch of trash from someone squatting

At the beginning of the video, you said you were looking for a spot that is mentioned in one of "the books". Would you mind sharing which books? I'm just getting into rockhounding and would love to pick up some resources! Thanks for the videos! I love seeing what you find! I live in Orting. . . so I definitely plan to hit some of the spots that you hound in!

Thank you for watching! The spots in this series of videos that I mention being from a book are in Rockhounding Washington by Lars Johnson. Pierce County Library System has some copies of the book. There is at least one spot up in Greenwater that is mentioned in that book but I have not made a video about yet, and it has yielded some really beautiful rocks for me in the past.

What you're finding is common opal, not rhyolite. It's all over the place up there. And yes, that is green jasper. It can get very bright green at some locations there

I’ve been watching your videos for a bit now and we went up Sunday on fs70. How far up do you drive?

I have never used my odometer to check the distance, but I believe that it turns to gravel around the 10 mile mark from 410, and I have never gone more than about a couple miles beyond that. I know from trip reports I’ve seen online there more rockhounding spots up there beyond that. How far did you go? Were you rockhounding? Thanks for watching!

I’m not sure how far up we went, but having lunch with the view was good enough for the day. We’ll be going back soon to rock hound.

@@mitchelfrench253 Some of the views up there are stunning. In my next Greenwater video I’m going to visit a spot where I camp during the summer that has an insane view! Let me know how your rockhounding goes!

@3:05 bro, I think we can all agree that "road" looks like a dry creek and is a great place to sniff around. If you ever come down to Oregon to do some hounding, lemme know.

So that 4 x 4 trail is one of the most sensitive 4 x 4 trails in the state. Please don’t dig on it. Feel free to dig in the woods just not on that road. That is called the old Naches wagon Trail. Starts from where you started it from and goes all the way into Naches that’s what the pioneers used to take back in the early days.

Oh man, I accidentally took that jeep trail in my mostly stock patriot last time I was up there, it was terrifying. Awesome rocks up there! Love the waterline agate nodules! This must have been filmed a while ago, no slide or snow for me.

Yeah I filmed this back in mid June! I would love to see a Patriot go up that trail, it’s pretty wild. I’m glad to hear they cleared the slide on FS-72

Thanks for watching! I believe the rock at 29:50 is an agate. The ones from this spot have a mix of clear red/orange color and translucent black. The blacks are maybe closer to a Jasper than agate though? I am not expert at identification so take that with a grain of salt!
