All this material reminds me so much of the areas we hound in central oregon. Basically finding the exact same stuff. Geology rocks!

" Silicate Show & Tell " 👍😎 ! I have collected at the Worthington Road area once , but it was near the end of summer , way too hot 🥵 for the hike in and up to the good areas .. plus everywhere , the grass had become 1 meter high before turning brown and dry .. we had some decent views southwards towards town , and eastward across to Mt. McLoughlin 🙂

Great video and nice finds! I'm subbing for sure! I'm in the Willamette Valley and recommend trying the Willamette River for some fantastic carnelian, as well as lots of jasper and petrified wood. A buddy of mine even found a geode awhile back. Happy hunting!

Appreciate it, I don't have nearly enough carnelians! It looks like I'll have to hound the Willamette River. 😁

@@RockHoundQuest There's a spot in Albany where the Calapooia River and Willamette meet, if you're lucky you may find some Holley blue agate there. It's usually smaller pieces but I've found some really nice gems.

I never made it last year, to the top of the road - too old, carrying too may tools(LOL),and a faulty back pack. Do you know what altitude it was where you are finding all of these. I'm asking because my son has a hundreds of acres in White City west of Worthington and his highest altitude is around 2,000 feet. I've found quartz, jasper, bloodstone and some big and lots of small petrified wood right on and along side some of the roads he's made through the property. I figure If I knew the altitude where you're finding so much material, I could concentrate on looking there since I don't have to walk the property, the Polaris could get this 83 year old body there alive! LOL. Thanks to you and Andrew for all the great, inspiring videos!

I'm not sure what altitude I was at in this video. We know this is a popular spot, so we started by hiking a good distance in to find areas that haven't been picked over as much. I can tell you that I've found cool stuff from the bottom to the top; it's all over. Regarding your son's property, if you are finding good material when he is putting in roads, I would start there. Follow the fresh road cuts until you find a more densely populated area. Then, look around for outcroppings of rock or hills that the material could be coming from. We look at freshly dug or newly eroding spots to get an idea of what is nearby

@@RockHoundQuest Thanks so much for responding. After all the rain we've been having, I hope next time I'm up there with him, there will be more to find! Thanks again for the video - great finds!
