I feel the same, Chris! I've mounted my MIX4 on my Rollerblade Twister Edge X and I absolutely love the combination. The ride height of a 4x90 combined with the speed and momentum of a 4x100 is just awesome. To me, this just feels like the best (rockered) frame to mount on a freeskate.

My “wizard” skate is a k2 unnatural/r100 combo. Love it. I know I can get a better setup. But I love the rocker options. Depending on what I’m going to skate I can make the rocker more aggressive or tone it back.
@chrischadwick12 жыл бұрын
Yeah k2 were really onto something with that frame design. The rockerable axle thing just needs simplifying a bit. Do you find it really fiddldy to change the rocker?
@FabiusPyromanus2 жыл бұрын
I'm on K2 R100 for about a year now and I freaking love them. (Note my only other wizard frame experience is the Kizer Element 90). The build quality is not the best and the rockering mechanism could be greatly improved/simplified, but they are still amazing. Smallest rocker for everyday cruising and slight rocker for wizard play. But BEST of all is the ability to go flat for really long distances and when it's raining. I commute a lot on my skates and being able to go flat in the rain and rocker when dry is a must for me now.! The rockering is fiddely but it gets easier with time. I'm now tempted to upgrade to an IQON 110 frame. Cuz a fixed rocker feels like a no go.
@yetticuda2 жыл бұрын
@@chrischadwick1 setting up the rocker isn’t that bad. I’ve tried to mimic the wizard rocker and haven’t gotten it to where I want. At times I feel my 4x80 flat swivels more.

Nice review. I'm on the lookout for new frames, cause my 80's (243) are a bit to short for my 43eu boot. What boot size are you wearing? I wanted to go 90, but thought the difference may be to small, so should go 100 for my boot, but that looks so big haha. This one would be ideal... But i'm only a beginner, so i have no idea or exp except for my FRX 80 for 2 months or so. Any tips? Endless 90/110 vs rockin 90 vs this 90/100 mix...?

@@duploh i'm intrigued by them too. i have the endless 100 and the endless 90 and i find the 90s a bit wobbly when going faster downhill and the 100s a bit cumbersome while doing my urban skating. these look like they could be right frame for everything, but i'm kind of curious/concerned about rotating the wheels.

@@skuko1980 well, i'm very new to skating, back after 20y. So i only have my FRX 80's for like 3months now and only rotated my wheels once... So i'm also a bit nervous bout how this will go. With my 80's i did this 'wheel 1 left, to 3 right' rotation. But here it's just boot/side swapping i guess?

Interesting... just the other day I thought of this combination. The bigger wheels in the front and back should make them last longer and the frame length is ideal: stable but not too awkward. However, I understand that the company has to make a living, but 200 Euro or more for a pair of frames? I can get a pair of brand new rollerblades (skates and liner) including a pair of frames, wheels and bearings for the same price. If it was below 100 Euros, I would consider it. But so I just pass and keep rolling my 4x90 setup. Many people wonder why rollerblading "died". Well, I know a huge part of the answer: it was very often due to overpriced replacement parts. When you have to pay 60 Euros for new wheels and 80 Euros for a new liner, you consider buying a new pair of skates, since they are almost the same price. But in the end, you just leave the skates in the corner and move on to another hobby. So my advice to some of the big skating companies: if you dont want skating to "die" again, consider your price policy. Absurd prices dont necessarily equal huge profits, but rather a lot of lost costumers... Anyway, great review and thanks for the effort!
@danielreigdiaz13732 жыл бұрын
I am not sure you can lower the price much more, considering the materials and the way these frames are made. It is a very similar proce to other frames with similar characteristics
@nulldemokratiezwei77732 жыл бұрын
@@danielreigdiaz1373 Well, then they have a huge problem. Only very few people, if any, will be willing to pay 200 Euros for a piece of aluminum with some holes in it. :-)
@TheRollingRaptor2 жыл бұрын
@@nulldemokratiezwei7773 The Rockin' frames keep selling out, as do the offerings of other companies in the rockered frames business. Which must mean enough people believe those frames are worth their money. Such frames are not just 'replacements': they give a completely new feel to your skates. There's more engineering and testing involved than in a standard flat frame and the market for rockered frames is way smaller than the general skating market, where some companies have huge marketing budgets: that all adds up to the price. But still: I believe such frames are worth their price. And I know a lot people in person who believe the same. So I don't think they've got a huge problem. People don't _have_ to buy expensieve rockered frames, but if they want to, they now have ample choice. 😊
@nulldemokratiezwei77732 жыл бұрын
@@TheRollingRaptor Well said! I totally agree.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts man. I understand what you're saying skates and parts can be very expensive, particularly right now with rising cost of everything else.. I guess you have to consider that products like this are very niche and are therefore being produced in very small batches that increases costs hugely. You then have the R&D that goes into bringing them into existence. Cost of materials, shipping, packaging, overheads and you can quickly see how it adds up. Also I don't know what Wizard brand frames cost these days but I know its a lot more than these. Lastly these are a great quality product that are built to last. I imagine they would last as long as you want to keep skating for so there is definitely a long term VFM to consider there. But feel free to disregard what I say, I was given them to review so I'm hardly impartial!
