Both of my parents were borne and raised in Port Severn. They moved to the USA in their twenties. I spent many summers there and loved working the Severn locks and helping boats through the locks. Those were great days and my most memorable time of my life.

Great video, well put together. The Peterborough lift lock it the highest hydraulic lift in the world. Go north from Orillia next time so you can experience the Big Chute marine railway.

Thanks for your comment! We have cruised the Great Loop almost twice and experienced the Big Chute during our first Loop. On the trip shown in the video, we organized a rendezvous of Ranger Tugs in Orillia and afterward, headed for the Rideau Canal, which we had never done before. Last summer we took our two oldest grandkids on a cruise of the TSW, from Peterborough to Orillia. I hope to someday do a video on the Rideau Canal. It was a fabulous trip as well.

This is my neck of the woods (water-way)! I’ve navigated the Trent Severn many times, both as a deck hand and as a captain. My fav is taking the boat into downtown Ottawa for one of their many summer weekend festivals! Having your personal accommodations walking distance from a capital cities city centre and all the shopping and services is just fabulous! Now I live on the west coast, and I’m preparing my 2000 42’ Marine Trader for a trip from Vancouver to the Sea of Cortez! We will see if all my Great Lakes experience can serve me well on some off shore ocean passages! Happy sailing, you trailerable trawler folks!

Jim n Lisa, What a great video showing the Trent Severn Waterway, we are thinking about becoming loopers and starting to look for a boat this year and take off fall of 23 after a season on the Great Lakes under our belts. Hope to catch you sometime when you are back North. Loved the video. Jim n Donna

I’ve sent you a few emails but for some reason you’re not receiving them. We are hoping to use our boat as you guys have when traveling across the country, staying in RV parks. I was hoping for more details with respect to using gray tank/black tank, if possible? Huge thanks for your efforts on your videos. Very much appreciated.🙏😘

At 3:40 that skipper is flying the Canadian flag from his jack staff, which should be reserved for a club burgee or personal ensign. He seems to be flying the Ranger Tugs company flag under some other flag from the main mast, which is where the national ensign of the nation in which the boat is registered should be flown when underway, and he's flying the United States ensign from the transom, which should be where the national ensign or yacht ensign is flown only when moored. If the Canadian flag is a courtesy flag, which it appears to be, it should be flown from the starboard spreader of the mast, or from a location that is a close substitute for a starboard spreader if the boat is not conventionally rigged. Somebody needs to get a copy of Chapman's and read the section on flag protocol.

@@Trailertrawlerlife I did. My dream is to do the Great Loop in a little Ranger Tug that I'd christen "The Lone Ranger" (and my dinghy would be "Tonto"), so I found your video inspiring. (And I should add that Kismet's "GTYC" club burgee and Bucket List's Canadian flag (being that she's a Canadian boat) are being are being flown correctly. It's only the Audrey Rose on which I noticed errors.)

Is there an unwritten law that forces people to add the most loud annoying music to their video ? Just a gentle put put put of the motors and quite scenery going slowly by. That's the idea of cruising the islands, canals and locks. I've travelled the Trent Severn and I would never have had loud annoying music during our time there so why in the video. I would have enjoyed this video but gave up at 5:40 sec.
@Trailertrawlerlife
@Trailertrawlerlife 3 жыл бұрын
Philippe, sorry you did not like the music. Don't think there is any unwritten law. Turning the volume off might have helped. I agree with you on enjoying the natural sounds and scenery while cruising. Guess that is the real-life experience you get only by being on the boat. We certainly don't play music while cruising. I enjoy matching music to film when putting a video together. I love music almost as much as boating (in remote locations, with natural sounds). Sometimes the captured sound is, in itself, annoying. For me, the music helps one transition through each clip.
@palco22

@@Trailertrawlerlife I most certainly regret my rant. (I could have gone about it in a more subtle way) It is simply that too many great and interesting videos are accompanied by loud music and I get frustrated (getting old might be a reason). I'll go back to your video with a more respectful attitude and enjoy the ride. Like I mentioned, we travelled the entire Trent Severn Waterway back in 1993 (Could have been in 94 ?) but it was 4 weeks in heaven with friends (the boat owner). Again, thanks for the reply and may I just wish you and yours the very best in 2022 (We deserve it !)...........stay safe !
