‪@gothatawaychrisandsandra‬ runs aground on the Trent-Severn Waterway before the first lock! It was hard not to feel dumb, or impoverished, after the towing bill.

That is very unfortunate and every boater's nightmare. I am so glad you never damaged your boat, I am a new boater as well. It's certainly a learning curve but the adventures and excursions of memories make .. Happy Boating.

I like your boat. With a full keel, skeg and protected rudder and prop. The grounding was a learning experience. If you had a C-Tow subscription it would have been cheaper.. I have a similar setup on my boat. 40ft steel displacement trawler. I've only grounded once, in Great Kills harbour at low tide.. I was lucky, it was in sand, and I managed to reverse out again.. With my dignity dented, we got underway. Full keep boats rock! I like your videos.

Yes. A C Tow membership is a definite requirement this year! How do you find your boat for comfort? Ours is on the small side but seems perfect for the two of us.

@@gothatawaychrisandsandra We built out boat out of an abandoned steel hull. It was a family project. It's all steel, round displacement hull. 40ft long, and 15ft wide. Wide sicde decks with a full unobstructed walk around and 3ft high railing.. Great for canals and lock handling, or Lake Ontario in bad weather :) There is surprisingly not all that much living space.. We have a bench in the pilot house and dining table.. (we can fold it up and move it out of the way..), the galley, head, and separate shower, TV and "living room" are downstairs.. We have a fairly large V-berth up front for sleeping. Lots of space, but very little headroom. :) It works great for the two of us. We have a large engine room (not quite stand up height.. I have to duck). There is a lot of storage space in there. There is a large back deck and that's usually where we hang out when we're docked. We don't have a flybridge.. The pilothouse is raised, so it's tall enough to see over everything.. Our dingy sits on a foldable swim platform, and we get it into the water with a small deck crane..

Great video. We bought a boat in Delaware and brought it up to Midland ON in the middle of covid. A little challenging, but good fun. We did a little plowing on a coupe of occasions, but fortunately always slow and never got stuck. I had a 50ft steel trawler in Asia and successfully landed that a few times too. There are two types of boaters - those that have ran aground, and those that will. Just try and make sure you're going slowly when it happens, and have a boat with a protected prop and rudder. Good luck with the rest of the river.

Well that’s an unfortunate mistake! But one you’ll only make once. Glad there was no damage and everything turned out okay.

I went up and back on the Trent Severn in Aug 2022 in my 100% solar electric boat. I did hit a rock downstream from Crowe Bay by not paying attention and broke a prop. We all learn from our mistakes.

Ouch! Our insurance covers a tow up to $2400. Boating is always a learning experience. You were in our home waters. We have our own channel called Cruising Jackson Rose touring around the Bay of Quinte and the Trent Severn Waterway if youre interested. We've subbed and look forward to more videos. Cheers!
